The house had five rows of windows and was easily two hundred yards long and another hundred yards deep. The house was built from white marble and the steps leading up to it were the most beautiful she had ever seen. There were eight giant pillars on the front of the house for the porch to be covered. The porch had hanging lights and ceiling fans.
Giant green plants in pots on the front porch; some with bright colored flowers, some with miniature trees. She liked the way the porch had rocking chairs around and the tables placed about. This is a southern home. She thought. This was a beautiful home and she began to panic thinking about how rich these people are.
"It's okay." he grabbed her hand to help calm her. "My family is pretty cool."
She nodded her head. "Okay." was all she managed before she was bombarded with a pretty woman with bright pink hair.
"You must be Melody." She gave her a big hug and squeeze. "I'm Daisy. The youngest sister. Also, the most amazing sister." she winked at Alex.
"Hi," she murmured.
"I'm so excited to meet you. Alex mentioned you yesterday and I don't think he told the truth. He said you were very pretty and he lied. You are gorgeous."
"Oh, thank-"
"Okay, leave her be Daisy." a woman with blonde hair walked up. "Hey darlin', I'm mama." she opened up her arms and wrapped Melody into a giant hug. "Well, aren't you as pretty as a flower."
"Thank you." she didn't know what to say.
"Come inside from the heat." She pulled her inside the house.
The inside was even more beautiful than the outside. She couldn't believe just how this house was even a home. There wasn't a flake of dust or a speck of dirt anywhere out of place. She heard people talking in another room. She heard laughing. Something that never really happened in any of her foster homes.
When she walked into the other room everyone went quiet and looked at her. You could've heard a pin drop.
"Let's not all talk at once." Alex joked.
"You lied." Brianna told him. "She isn't pretty, she's beautiful."
"Not really," he told her. "I told you that she is indescribable."
Melody looked up to Alex, her entire face blushed. He was much too nice about it. She wasn't that pretty. A natural beauty sure, but nothing else.
"I-" she began but was interrupted.
"I tried to tell y'all that she was pretty but y'all didn't want to listen to your father." John rolled his eyes.
Melody didn't know which conversation to follow as there were many going about the room. She tried to listen to them all but became confused as they started to all mix into one. When one of the servants came out and announced it was time to eat they all sat down at the table.
Melody didn't know where to sit until Alex pointed to a seat beside his. She looked down at the table and the servants dropped the plates in front of everyone. They started to eat their food and conversations still remained.
"Where are you from Mel?" Callie asked her.
"Everywhere and nowhere." she answered. "I was in foster care, going from house to house."
"Do you have any siblings?"
"No."
"How long were you at each house?"
"Some houses, a couple of weeks. Some days, others years or months. It really depended on the foster parents."
"Do you mind me asking about your story?"
