It was the second Monday of school.

You know — the Monday where everything sinks in and you realize wow, I really am stuck doing this for five days a week for the next ten months while still maintaining a shitty life outside of school too.

It was also the Monday where I had to see Scott after he ditched me at the party on Friday.

I didn't even know what happened, or what I did. I finally gave him a chance, and he totally blew it. And regular me would've just given up and moved on, but for some reason, I was so drawn to him.

Maybe it was the way I felt when I was around him.
But the thing is — it wasn't even a good feeling.
It was this weird wave of shock I didn't know how to explain, but it was there. And it definitely wasn't anything good.

Or maybe it was just the fact that, for whatever reason, I actually wanted to be with him.

Maybe I did like Scott.

Either way — he messed up. And I wasn't about to let it go that easily. So I figured I'd just go to school, live out my normal life, and see what happened.

For some reason, I looked out my bedroom window — but there was nothing there.

I hadn't looked out of it since Friday night, when I talked to Isaac.

Which turns out... he's my neighbor.

Isaac was a cool guy and everything, but there was something off about him. It's not like I was intrigued by him or anything — he was just a decent person to be around.

Different.

I headed down the stairs after getting dressed and ready for school — which had to be borderline extravagant because, well, I walked next to Lydia Martin every day.

When I made it to the kitchen to grab something to eat, I noticed some papers sitting out on the table.
Of course, me being me, I had to take a look since they were just sitting there for the world to see.

"Can I help you?" My mom walked in, snatching the papers away before I could get a better look.

"You're actually doing it..." I scoffed, shaking my head like I couldn't believe what I was seeing. "I thought you were joking."

"Why would I be?" she answered flatly, pushing past me to grab her cup of coffee.

She was already in her scrubs, ready to head to work.

"I can't believe you're actually going through with this..." I muttered.

Not even in the mood to argue — I just wanted it to not be true.
