"Young love tends to be based on nothing but feelings. The couple has not yet faced and overcome a challenge or difficulty together. They are passionate about each other. They think about each other constantly and want to spend all their time"

It was finally the end of the day. Just twenty more minutes of geometry and I could go home.
It had been a hectic day, between making sure Isaac was okay and trying to process everything from last night. Not to mention whatever was going on with Scott — he'd been acting so weird lately. And I didn't want to talk to Lydia about it, not when she was convinced Allison had a crush on him.
I just needed someone with a clear head. Someone who wouldn't be biased or make it all about them. That's when I turned to the person sitting next to me.
Danny.
Danny and I were friends — not super close, but enough for me to trust him with this.
"Danny, can I ask you something?" I whispered.
He set his pencil down and looked at me. "What's up?"
"So... I've been hanging out with McCall, right? And every time we do, he starts acting weird after a while. But he's nice, like... really nice at first. At first, I thought he didn't actually want to be with me, but then he keeps coming back, texting, calling, trying to talk to me. I don't know what to do."
I knew how it sounded — like normal teenage girl drama. But honestly? I'd take this kind of drama over whatever mess was going on at home.
Danny grinned, leaning back a little in his seat. "Angie, have you looked in a mirror lately? You're hot. And Scott's just barely catching up. The dude's had a crush on you forever, and now you're finally giving him a shot. Of course he's gonna freak."
It was basically what Lydia would've said, just without the ego and sarcasm.
Maybe Scott was scared. And I couldn't blame him for that. But I also wasn't going to let him walk all over me.
"So... I should give him another chance?" I asked, half-hoping for permission.
Danny gave me a look. "How many chances are we talking about here?"
I thought about it. About all the times I let things slide. "This would be... the third."
My mind wandered to all the chances I'd given Tyler, too. And I knew I couldn't keep doing that — letting people treat me like I was disposable.
Danny must've caught the hesitation because he sighed and said, "If he messes up this time, it's done. It's fine to give people a chance, but you can't let him treat you like shit because he's confused. Know your worth, Angie."
He picked his pencil back up, and I nodded, biting back a smile.
"One more chance. That's all he gets," I told myself.
