Everyone had been careful about what they told Kira. No one wanted to reveal too much too soon. Scott had been convinced she was harmless — that she didn't know what she was or what role she played in all of this — but the others weren't so sure. For now, it was better to keep things vague.

Ava hadn't said a word to the others about what she already knew. She'd cleared Kira early that morning. Kira wasn't the problem. It was her mother who wasn't to be trusted, and Ava knew it. She was sure the woman had no intention of joining them, no matter how innocent she acted.

Still, Ava had told Kira she didn't know what she was — promising to find out for her, to stop her from asking questions where she shouldn't. The most important thing right now was to keep them all safe, and the only way to do that was to keep their next moves under wraps... not that they even had a next move. Ava intended to figure that out by morning — though a sick feeling in her gut warned her it might already be too late.

Across the loft, Scott watched as Kira stepped away from the group while they cleaned up. She looked overwhelmed, lost in her head, and he couldn't blame her. He'd been debating all night whether to tell her everything, but the timing was never right — and part of him wasn't sure he even should.

"You okay?" Scott asked gently as he approached her.

Kira gave him a weak smile. "Yeah... I just... I never thought any of this was real. I mean, you read about these things and you hear stories, but it's different when it's right in front of you."

"I'm sorry you got dragged into this," Scott said, meaning it.

But Kira shook her head. "It's okay. After what happened at the warehouse, I felt like a total outsider. I was so embarrassed, thinking you all saw me as a freak. But now... I feel kind of welcome. Everyone's... really nice."

Scott smiled at that. "Yeah, they are."

Even if tonight had its chaos, it hadn't been a total bust. They'd made memories. They gave Angie a night worth remembering, and that counted.

"And as much as I'd love to stay, I should probably head home before my dad freaks out. And... you're kinda my ride," Kira added shyly.

Scott chuckled. "Yeah. Let me just tell them I'm heading out."

He walked over to where the others were finishing up, passing Allison and Stiles as they stacked boxes.

"Hey, guys. I gotta go — taking Kira home."
