They ran through the trees, Johnathan trying to get home as fast as he could. He didn't know what was going on, but Beth was at Alexandria. They slowed to a stop Johnathan trying to catch his breath. "Try again," Johnathan told Rick rather rudely.

"Tobin, it's not stopping. Light it up. You hear me?" Rick spoke into the radio, Johnathan and Glenn watching. All that came back was static. "Tobin!" A walker snarling caught their attention. "Michonne."

"Got it." She told them, swinging her sword and killing it before they all took off running again.

Johnathan was faster than everyone, so he was way ahead of everyone. He didn't care about the herd anymore, he cared about getting home, where Beth was. Not only Beth but Judith, Carl, and Maggie. He couldn't handle losing anyone else, not after Noah and Hershel, he just couldn't. He heard screaming behind him, but he wasn't worried, he knew Glenn and Michonne could take care of themselves, so he just kept pushing himself. He didn't know what he was running into as he broke through the treeline and out onto the road. He crossed the road before he was going back into the woods, he didn't care if he had to climb the walls, he had to get home.

He was running so fast he couldn't pull to a stop as he ran up on a hill. He stumbled down it, his foot getting caught in a tree root before he fell, his head smacking a rock. Johnathan scoffed as he pushed himself up, pulling his foot from the root before he was running again. Beth was sick that morning, and he didn't know if she would be able to protect herself. He knew she would fight like hell too, but he didn't know how well she would be able to. And he knew Carl would die before he let something happen to Judith.

And whatever, whoever, was at Alexandria was nothing compared to the herd that was moving towards there. A small group of people was easier to kill than a large group of walkers. The walkers swarmed you, people didn't.

"Johnathan." A voice came through the radio he had on his belt, it was a backup radio. "Johnathan." It was Maggie.

"I'm almost there. What the hell's happening?" Johnathan questioned, pushing himself through a creek, his knife in his other hand in case there were walkers.

"There were people. They climbed the walls, started killing everyone." Maggie explained quickly, Johnathan picking up his pace.

"The back half of the herd broke off, heading right towards Alexandria. I don't know where anyone else is, I ran ahead. Is Beth ok?" Johnathan asked, stabbing a walker in the head as he stepped out of the creek before he took off in a run again.

"Her arm got cut, Denise is stitching her up right now," Maggie told him, Johnathan nodding even though she couldn't see him.

"I'm coming up on the gate right now, let me in," Johnathan told her, clipping the radio back to his belt as the gate was pushed open. He stepped into Alexandria, the sight of dead bodies being the first thing he saw. He shook his head, helping Maggie close the gate before he was walking toward the infirmary. He looked around at all the dead bodies, fully expecting one of them to be someone he loved, but none of them were.

He walked into the infirmary, Beth sitting on the edge of one of the beds, Denise putting a bandage over the stitches on Beth's arm. "Hey, sweetheart." Johnathan greeted softly, Beth turning her head to look at him.

"What are you doing back so early?" Beth asked, smiling at Denise in thanks as she stood and moved over to Johnathan.

"Back half of the herd broke off from the horn," Johnathan told her, looking at her arm. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah." Beth nodded, smiling in thanks as he opened the door for her, but her smile fell at the sight of the dead bodies that littered the street.

"Are you feeling any better?" Johnathan asked her as they walked towards their house.

"Not really." Beth shook her head. "Still kind of nauseous."

"Well, when we get home you can lay down," Johnathan told her.

Beth shook her head. "The house is trashed. There's a dead person on our bedroom floor. I have to clean up."

"I can do it. It's not like we're going to be able to leave after the herd gets here." Johnathan spoke, pushing open their front door to be met with a mess. Johnathan closed the door and locked it behind them, leading Beth up the stairs. "Do you know why you haven't been feeling well?"

"No," Beth told him. "Denise is supposed to examine me tomorrow."

They stepped into their room, a man lay on the floor, a bullet hole in the middle of his forehead, blood pooled on the floor. There was blood on their sheet, from Beth's arm. So Beth sat in the chair in their room while Johnathan pulled the sheet off, putting a clean one on so she could lay down.

Johnathan nodded, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Just rest, okay? I'll clean up the house."

Beth nodded, watching as he slid the pistol that was on the nightstand back under his pillow, before he grabbed the dead guy's arms, dragging him out of the room and out of the house.
