Johnathan carefully wrapped sticks of dynamite together, handing them to Jesus and Daryl to line up. Johnathan wrapped the last few sticks together, glancing between Beth who was sitting on a log and then the dynamite. Johnathan's head shot towards Beth's direction when he heard a twig snap behind her. He saw a walker stumbling through the trees behind Beth and he was quick to hand the dynamite to Daryl before he grabbed his knife and stood up, grabbing the walker by its old and torn shirt driving his knife into the walkers head.
"Come on, sweetheart." Johnathan said softly, holding a hand out to Beth. Beth grabbed his hand and pulled herself up before they went to their tree, Johnathan helping Beth up before he went up. He aimed his sniper rifle, at one of the women who was holding Tara at gunpoint as the dynmite started going off.
"Johnathan! Michonne! Don't!" Tara yelled.
"What's happening?" Beth questioned quietly.
"Some old hag has Tara at gunpoint." Johnathan stated, looking around through the scope. "Walkers!" Johnathan yelled out, alerting his group and the other group to the incoming threat. He passed the rifle over to Beth. "Stay here."
"Be safe." Beth told Johnathan.
"Always." Johnathan told her, climbing down the tree.
He shoved his knife into the skull of a walker. And then another one, moving forward to help his people. He took down the few stragglers before going back to the tree, helping Beth to get down.
Beth and Johnathan were in Oceanside's armory, placing weapons into baskets before Johnathan passed them to other members of their group.
When they were done Johnathan turned to Beth. "Want a piggyback ride?"
"Please." Beth smiled.
Johnathan crouched down, smiling as he felt Beth's hands on his shoulders before she was jumping onto his back. Johnathan steadied himself holding Beth's legs to keep her up. "So, I've been reading medical books, so I can try and learn how to help you give birth, considering we don't have a doctor."
"Maybe we'll get lucky and find a doctor." Beth suggested.
"Yeah, maybe." Johnathan shrugged. "But in case we don't we need somebody that knows. I don't want what happened to Lori to happen to you and I want you to have the safest birth possible, no matter how you have him." Johnathan told her genuinely and softly.
"I know you do, love." Beth spoke, her voice soft, placing a soft kiss on the back of his neck. Beth still had her little southern twang in her voice, something Johnathan loved.
It reminded him of home, his mother's Louisiana southern drawl. The simple days, back at the farm and prison. Johnathan had bettered himself since being with Beth. Obviously he had to make himself good enough for her. And he would never have hatred towards the walker virus either, because that meant he would've never met her. She was his home.
