William came running inside, looking for anyone to help him.

"Mom?! Jonathan?! Katlyn?!" He shouted and sounded scared.

I walked out of my room. "Hey what's wrong? Why are you shouting?"

"Something is out there..." He said. "And I think it's something bad... Something that wants to kill..."

My eyes widened and we ran over to the shed and got the two shotguns we have. We loaded them and prepared to fight for our lives. We didn't know what was coming but it was going to change our lives forever. We both pointed the guns towards the door as we heard snarling and growling from outside the shed. Then it suddenly went silent.

"Where is it?" I asked after a couple seconds of silence.

Then the growling started again, this time inside of the shed. We both slowly turned around and looked up at the large, tall, faceless creature. The creature grabbed me by the throat and lifted me up, choking me.

I was able to get a few words out to talk to William. "Get out of here..."

He hesitated but then ran away. The world was much different than the normal world. It was dark and cold. There was red lightning in the sky, herds of bats, and huge, odd looking vines everywhere. The creature took me to who must've been their master. I dropped to the ground gasping for air.

"Seventeen." A deep voice said to me. "Do you remember me?"

"Am I supposed to?" I asked as I looked up at him, his skin looked as if it was burnt off. "Whoa, what happened to you? Did you leave the cookies in the oven for a bit too long?"

He tilted his head and vines lifted me up. Here we go again, I thought.

"You're funny." He said.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically. "I try as hard as I can."

"You've lost your powers." He said.

"How'd you know I had powers?" I asked.

"I can show you how to get them back." He said as he lifted his hands up towards my head.

I tried to move away but then vines grabbed me and tied me to a tree of some sort. His fingers were as long as knives. He looked like he had claws for fingers. When his fingers touched both sides of my head, I started going through a memory time lapse. All of a sudden, the memories stopped on one certain memory. It was a memory that I vaguely remembered.

"Hey freak!" Someone yelled from behind me.

I turned around to see one of the boys that made fun of me at high school. I groaned. I just wished for one simple day, where I didn't get bullied for wanting to be successful.

"Do you really think you'll be successful as an Actor?" The boy asked. "You probably don't even know how to act and just are using it as a way to be like one of us. Well, I'm sorry to tell you this but you will never be one of us. You're a freak."

"I don't wanna be like you." I said.

"The freak speaks!" He said. "Now, why not?"

"You guys are a bunch of douche bags who break the law and make fun of people because you're afraid that they have a chance at being better than you." I answered. "And I hate to break it to you but as long as you guys are those douche bags, they are always going to be better than you. Sorry, not sorry."

I walked to my locker and got my script out for the school play that I was hoping to be able to get a part in and walked to my next class. In my free period, I chose to sit by the football field and go over my script so that I am ready for auditions.

"Well look who it is." The boy from earlier said as he walked up to me with his friends. "It's the freak doing her freak work in action!"

"What the hell do you want?" I snapped at him.

"Whoa!" He said. "I'm not here for any trouble! I just came here to apologize.. Maybe I underestimated what your skills were when it comes to acting. May I see your script?"

I hesitantly gave it to him.

"Oh this is nice. Too bad that you aren't going to be able to get another one in time for auditions." He said as he ripped the script up.

"Why did you do that?!" I yelled.

"Never compare me to freaks like you again." He said as him and his friends walked away, laughing.

I tried to salvage the pieces of the script that I could but I couldn't pick up all of the pieces before the wind blew them away. Jonathan walked out of the school for his free period as I stood up, obviously pissed.

"Hey!" I yelled at the boy.

He turned around, "What? Does the freak want us to say sorry?"

"You want to see a real freak?" I asked. "Fine. I'll show you a real freak."

Then I walked towards him and tilted my head to one side and broke his arm with my mind.

He screamed in pain. "You broke my arm! You just broke my arm!"

I then threw him in the air with my powers against the yellow field goal post. Jonathan ran over to me.

"Hey what happened?" He asked as I was zoned out. "Katlyn? Katlyn wake up!"

Then I got back into the real world. (she's out of the flashback)

"Katlyn!" Steve shouted.

"What!" I shouted back.

"Sorry, you were zoned out." He said.

"Oh." I said as he grabbed my hand and we ran down the stairs.

"Uh, Steve?" Erica asked as we got downstairs and he hadn't let go of my hand yet. "Where's your little Russian friend?"

We looked to where the Russian was supposed to be and no one was there anymore. Then, an alarm went off.

"Oh shit." I said.

"We gotta go, NOW!" Steve said as he kept holding my hand and dragged me out the other door that the Russians weren't outside of as the others followed.
