Everyone was sleeping in Nancy's basement except Max and I. We were sitting at the dining table coloring with Nancy's little sister. I was helping Max color what she and I saw while Max was under the curse. Everything was red. There were what seemed to be parts of a house floating around in the sky along with lots of boulders. Nancy and Dustin ran upstairs looking for us, worried.

"Morning, guys." Mrs. Wheeler said, while she just finished making pancakes for us. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything's okay." Nancy said.

"I think it's so sweet that you guys are sticking together like this." Mrs. Wheeler said.

"Could try sticking together at a different house for a change." Mr. Wheeler said.

Nancy walked over to us and Mrs. Wheeler turned to Dustin. "You know, you're welcome here any time."

"Totally. You're like family." Dustin walked up to the plate of pancakes to get some breakfast. "May I?"

"Absolutely." Mrs. Wheeler said.

"Yeah, why not? Take us for all we're worth." Mr. Wheeler said.

"Okay." Dustin smiled and took four pancakes.

I giggled as I listened to him drop each pancake onto his plate, while I was coloring. Max was listening to her favorite song and I was just listening to everything that surrounded me, including what Max was listening to. I knew it was probably stupid to not be listening to my Walkman at the time but I felt like I was invincible now that I knew that Vecna and I were connected. Nancy sat at the table with us and Max turned her Walkman off and took the headphones off.

"Hey." Max said.

"Hey." Nancy said. "You okay?"

"Just couldn't sleep." Max said. "People kept blasting music in my ears, for some reason. But, Holly let me borrow some of her crayons. We've been having a fun morning, right, Holly?"

"Mm-hmm." Holly said.

I stood up and grabbed my plate that Mrs. Wheeler had prepared for me and started to walk downstairs. It felt good to finally have everyone not worried about me. But I knew that once I broke Vecna and I's connection, all of that would change. I would be vulnerable. He could hurt me, if he even wanted to hurt me. I chose to assume that anything Vecna planned, I didn't know. He was unpredictable. When I got downstairs, I sat on the couch, trying not to wake anyone up, and I started eating my pancakes. Right when I finished eating, Nancy came down and woke everyone else.

We got to Victor Creel's house and started walking up the steps. The windows were all boarded up. It seemed that nobody had been there for years. I stared at the door. It was boarded up also, but I had a feeling that Nancy was onto something when she said the door Max and I saw was the same door as Victor's house's door.

"Yeah, that's not creepy." Steve said, looking at the boarded up house.

"What? Is little Stevie scared that the house is haunted?" I asked, taunting him.

"No!" Steve said. "It's just that the house looks creepy because it's all boarded up and shit."

"That isn't helping your case, Harrington." I laughed.

"Why do you seem all happy?" Steve asked. "You could get cursed any minute now. And where the hell is your Walkman?"

"Okay, to answer your first question, I can't get cursed. Vecna knows that he's connected to me so he can't kill me." I said. "And to answer your second question, I don't need it."
