"The mind flayer, it built this monster in Hawkins, to stop El and Kate, to kill them and pave a way into our world." Mike explained.
I sighed. Once again, another monster was trying to kill me.
"And it almost killed El. That was just one tiny piece of it." Nancy said.
"How big is this thing?" Hopper asked.
"It's big." Jonathan said. "Thirty feet at least."
"Yeah." Lucas said. "It sorta destroyed your cabin. Sorry."
"Okay, so, just to be clear, this... this big fleshy spider thing that hurt El, it's some kind of gigantic weapon?" Steve asked.
"Yes." Nancy confirmed.
"But instead of, like, screws and metal, the mind flayer made it's weapon with melted people." Steve said.
"Yes, exactly." Nancy confirmed again.
"Yeah, okay. I-- Yeah, I'm just making sure." Steve said.
"Are you sure this thing is still out there, still alive?" Mom asked.
"El beat the shit out of it but, yeah, it's still alive." Max said.
"But if we close the gate again--" Will said.
"We cut the brain off from the body." Max interrupted.
"And kill it." Lucas added. "Theoretically."
"Yoo-hoo!" Murray said from across the mall, waving a paper around. "Yoo-hoo!"
Murray set the paper, which seemed to be a map, onto one of the tables in the food court and we all gathered around.
"Okay, this is what Alexei called 'the hub.'" Murray said, while pointing to a room on the map. "Now, the hub takes us to the vault room."
"Okay, where's the gate?" Hopper asked.
"Right here." Murray said as he pointed to another room. "I don't know the scale on this, but I think it's fairly close to the vault room, maybe 50 feet or so."
"More like 500." Erica and I said.
"What, you're just gonna waltz in there like it's commie Disneyland or something?" Erica asked.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Murray asked Erica.
"Erica Sinclair. Who are you?" She said.
"Murray- Bauman." Murray replied.
"Listen, Mr. Bunman, I'm not trying to tell you how to do things, but I've been down in that shithole for 24 hours. And with all due respect, you do what this man tells you, you're all gonna die." Erica said.
"I'm sorry, why is this 4-year old speaking to me?" Murray asked.
"Um, I'm ten, you bald bastard!" Erica corrected him.
"Erica!" Lucas said.
"Just the facts!" Erica said.
"She's right. You're all gonna die, but you don't have to." Dustin said as he walked up to the map. "Sorry, may I?"
"Please." Murray said with a sarcastic smile.
"Okay, see this room here?" Dustin said as he circled the storage room with a crayon. "This is a storage facility. There's a hatch in there that feeds into their underground ventilation system. That will lead you to the base of the weapon. It's a bit of a maze down there, but between me and Erica, we can show you the way."
"You can show us the way?" Hopper asked, not seeming to like that idea.
"Don't worry, you can do all of the fighting and the dangerous hero shit, and we'll just be your navigators." Dustin said.
