Upside Down Love Part 1 & 2

Chapter 11: The Mind Flayer

Mike kept trying to radio Robin, Steve, Erica, and Dustin but it wasn't working. I was standing with Max, William, and Nancy. Nancy grabbed a gun from one of the Russians.

"You're gonna kill him aren't you?" Max asked.

"This is just a precaution, okay?" Nancy said.

"And not just against Billy. If he knows we're here, so does the mind flayer." William said.

"So, who was that guy in the car?" I asked.

"Oh, right. I forgot you just got here." Max said. "That was my big, step-brother, Billy. Oh, and I'm Maxine but you can call me Max."

"Nice to meet you, Max. I'm Katlyn, William's big sister, but you can call me Katie or Kate." I said. "William has told me about you."

Nancy looked at the car that Eleven threw earlier. "No chance that thing'll drive, right?"

"We don't need it to drive." Jonathan said. "We just need it's ignition cable."

We all tried to get it to move but it wouldn't budge.

"Let me try." Eleven said.

"El.." Mike said, worn out.

"I can do it." Eleven said.

Then we all stood back and she tried to move the car with her powers but it didn't work.

"Wait, Katie, don't you have powers, too? Why don't you try?" Max asked.

"Well, there's one teeny tiny problem with that." I said.

"What is it?" Max asked.

"She doesn't have her powers." William said. "She lost them after we left the upside down."

"Oh." Max said.

Then we used metal rods as a lever to flip the car over. We managed to get it on it's side.

"All right, great." Jonathan said. "All right, now all the way. Ready? Three, two, one... Push!"

We all pushed at the same time and the car was finally right side up again.

"We told you." Mike said.

"Physics." I said.

I stood with Eleven while she tried to crush a coke can. It didn't work. Mike and Max walked over.

"El." Mike said. "Are you okay?"

I sighed and walked over to everyone else. Jonathan managed to open the hood of the car and was now looking for the ignition cable.

"Do you see it?" Nancy asked.

"I don't know." He said. "It should be right here. Distributor, distributor..."

William and I lifted our hands to our necks. We both knew what it meant.

I looked at him. "Uh-oh."

Then I heard loud footsteps on top of the mall. I ran over to where Max was standing to see what was happening.

"Guys." Max said.

"Nancy!" Mike yelled to call their attention.

Then Mike and Max grabbed El and I and ran and hid just before the mind flayer broke in through the roof.

The mind flayer was walking around the mall, looking for us. Mike got up and looked around and saw that it was turned away.
