you sat in your car on the side of the butterfly cafe. you had arrived 7 minutes ago and you wanted to try and wait out the boys. seeing as they were still probably on their way, you get out of your car and head inside. the bell above rings as the door opens as you step inside the nature filled environment.
"[y/n]!"
you recognized the voice as shinobu's . you watch her hop over the counter and run over to you. she quickly hugs you before backing away.
"it's good to see you!" she smiles. you smile back, agreeing with her. "sometime this week we should hang out!" you suggest. "i'm free wednesday." she says. you both chatter about little things like school and such. shinobu was one of your only female friends so it was nice to speak about girly things.
"STOP BEING SO MEAN!" a voice cried from behind you both. you both turn to see Inosuke yanking zenitsu by his arm. tanjirou was ahead of them, already walking towards you both.
"shinobu ." tanjirou smiled. he bent down to give her a hug before looking around. "kanao's in the back right now." shinobu said. tanjirou smiled sheepishly and looked away.
"i wasn't really.." he trailed off. "[y/n] and shinobu please help me!" zenitsu scurried behind you both and peered through the gap of your sides.
"p*ssy." inosuke scoffed.
"hello, inosuke." shinobu smiled. "hi," he replied. "where's the food?"
"well you haven't ordered yet." shinobu said. "i want something good." he replied. "then go order." shinobu said in a sickly sweet voice.
you could tell they often bickered like this. "aoi , kanao get out here and help with your boyfriends!!" shinobu called. the back door to the cafe opened up and the two girls appeared behind the counter.
tanjirou was the first to walk over the counter. inosuke followed him, then zenitsu .
"cmon, i wanna order too." you say to shinobu. you both walk over to the counter where shinobu jumped back over it. "if you do that one more time i'm telling kanae." aoi huffed.
shinobu laughed and slapped the back of her head. "a*shole." aoi mumbled under her breath.
once the food and drinks had been ordered, you all stay crowded around the counter as you chatter. "please go find a table you guys are making me claustrophobic." kanae said.
she stepped from around the counter and crossed her arms at her chest. "sorry kanae!" tanjirou said. he pulled kanao to a table where they continued chatting. everyone gradually walked over to the table.
"[y/n] help me carry this stuff." shinobu strained. she had trays of snacks and drinks sitting on the counter. you walk over and pick up the snack tray, returning it to the table you just stood at.
"hey, finally!" inosuke cheered. he started opening different boxes and digging pieces of food from each one. "gross." aoi remarked. inosuke stopped and wiped his mouth. he then slowly took some food out of his box and nibbled on it.
you stifle your laugh and try to direct your attention elsewhere. "eat up everyone!" kanae clapped. she walked over to the table to greet everyone.
"good to see you again [y/n]!" she smiled. she then walked away to tend to her duties in the kitchen. the evening progressed into storytelling and laughs from within the group.
this was the most fun you've had since your arrival four months ago. zenitsu's yawn made the chattering die down a bit. "we should get going." tanjirou says, standing up.
everyone nods at his statement. kanao wraps her arms around him in a tight bear hug that he returns. inosuke does the same with aoi .
as everyone files out, you stay behind for a moment. you were still infatuated with the environment that had been created. "you okay [y/n]?" shinobu came from behind and asked.
"yeah. it was good seeing you." you smile. you bend down to hug shinobu before walking out. you could see the boys pulling out of the parking lot as you entered it.
you slid into your front seat and shut the door. closing your eyes, you silently smiled to yourself. you were undeniably happier than ever.
