"Good," Jane said. "Everyone know what to do this evening?" "Yes," said Sky. They had all gathered in the consultation room and checked their weapons. They had been able to figure out that the killer was going to strike this evening. Everyone could feel the tension in the others and themselves. This could be a big step in their investigation of the killer. Emma wasn't feeling very well this evening and had decided not to join them in the field. She had said they could do without her and had locked herself in her room. So they had started without her and prepared to leave. "Today's purpose is to find out who the killer is and why he or she is doing all this. There will be no shooting and no fight that we start. The only time when you are allowed to shoot or throw is when you are trying to get yourself to safety," Jane continued. She her three friends who all nodded. "Good. I hope this will work out." She took out her quiver of arrows, put it around her back and took out her bow. "It's going to be a tricky night," Sam said. He had just entered the room with a stack of paper and walked over to the table. He nodded briefly to Jane and then looked at the others. Jane walked out of the room and disappeared from sight. "I hope you will stick to the arrangements," he said. "Jane has been working on this assignment for a long time, even longer than you think. So she's put a lot of time into it, too. Sam looked at the three of them for a moment and then said to Alexa, "Can I talk to you for a second?" "Yes," she replied shortly. The two boys took their weapons and walked out of the room. "I know I've been acting weird lately, but that will pass. The important thing now is to focus on tonight," Alexa said when the boys were out of sight. Sam pushed back a chair and sat down at the table. He took his papers in his hand and spread them across the table. "That's not why I wanted to see you," he said. "Have a seat, Alexa." Alexa did as she was asked and sat down at the table next to Sam. "You see all these papers? These are all proof that Jeweetwel is the murderer." "Who? Voldemort?" "No, Jessie," Sam replied shortly. "How... but nobody believed me!" said Alexa startled. "True, but when you said she could be a candidate, I started thinking about it. I've also noticed lately that Jessie hasn't been coming here very often. Is that right?" "Yes," Alexa said. "We haven't seen her lately. She's been gone for quite a while..." "I thought as much," said Sam. "That's why I took a closer look at the last camera footage. That's where I noticed that Jessie walked out of the room unseen every time." He pulled out a few pictures from the documents and showed them to Alexa. Jessie was indeed walking out of the rooms with a concentrated look every time. "Do you understand what I mean?" asked Sam after a while. "Yes... Jessie walked out of the rooms every time before a murder was committed. That's why we didn't notice her walking out. Why didn't we notice anything?" "I think you guys trust too many people right now," Sam replied, "What do you mean?" "Just pay a little attention to the behavior of some of you, and you'll know what I mean." "Do you mean Emma, perhaps?" asked Alexa in surprise. "I wouldn't be surprised if that one was or is planning something too." "Pay attention and don't be alarmed if anyone on the team were to leave after this mission." Sam began to gather his documents and stood up. "So this was it then?" asked Alexa. "Yes, Alexa. Read these documents again and you will find a link to the murders and your dreams." "How do you know about my dreams?" "I know everything, Alexa. That's why I brought you together..." "What do you mean?" Alexa looked at him with a confused expression. "You've been informed about Jane, haven't you?" "Informed of what?" asked Alexa bluntly. "The fact that you all have powers. You can predict and see things, Sky has a special gift for getting things back together, Robin can talk to animals and Jane... Jane is..." Sam continued, "Is what! Sam!" Sam handed Alexa the documents and walked out of the room without another word. "Great! Now I know a lot of things Sam! Thank you!" without looking back she walked out of the room to the outside. She slammed the door as hard as she could and walked to her own room. As she stood in the hallway to walk to her room, she ran into Sky. He was walking from one end of the hallway to the other. "What are you still doing here?" she asked. Sky stopped walking and remained standing with a startled expression. "Sorry, Sam suddenly walked out on me and brought my mood down." "No big deal," Sky said. He crested over to her and took hold of her arms. "Everything okay?" asked Alexa startled. "I have to tell you something," he replied. "Good, because I also have an important announcement." Alexa walked through to her room with Sky on her heels and told him to come in. "Sam just gave me documents with a determination that Jessie is the killer..." Alexa began. Sky had sat down on her bed and was listening. "No contradictions?" asked Alexa in surprise but before Sky could even answer she continued. She put the folder of documents on her desk. "He agreed with. "Sam! just gave me documents with a determination that Jessie is the killer..." Alexa began. Sky had sat down on her bed and was listening. "No contradictions?" asked Alexa in surprise but before Sky could even answer she continued. She put the folder of documents on her desk. "He agreed with right. These are all documents with references to Jessie and the murders. It's strange you know. At first no one believed me and now I've just been proved right." "Alexa?" asked Sky cautiously. "Yes?" said Alexa and turned to Sky. He had straightened up and walked over to her. He took one of the pictures and showed it to Alexa. "A picture of Jessie. What of it?" Without answering, Sky tore the picture in two. "What are you doing!" almost exclaimed Alexa. Sky gestured for her to shut up, so she kept quiet. Sky put the two parts of the photo down on Alexa's desk and stood behind it. He stood with his hands over the picture and closed his eyes. Blue sparks came out of his hands and suddenly the photo was whole again. "So you do know about that already or something?" asked Alexa in surprise. "About what?" asked Sky. "That each of us has powers..." Sky continued to look at the picture and said nothing. "So Jane did tell you and not me?!" Sky raised his head with a jerk and looked at her. "Jane didn't say anything to you?" he asked in surprise. "No!" said Alexa. "Why is everyone being informed and I don't know anything!" "How am I supposed to know?" said Sky. "I'm going to kill her again you know!" "Now first keep yourself busy with tonight's mission. After that, you can kill her, okay?" said Sky. He walked up to her and kissed her. Suddenly, Alexa detached herself and looked at him. "Sorry," said Alexa. "For what?" asked Sky. "You didn't do anything wrong. Life is hard but it's life..." "Isn't it 'the law is hard but it's the law'?" "Yeah... just improvisation , you know..." Sky took a step back and looked at her. "I'm going to go get ready. See you later?" "Yeah," Alexa replied. Sky turned and walked out of the room. "Just focus on the mission...and what Sam said," Alexa said. She took the documents, put them in a backpack, took her gun, and walked out of her room.
