Klaus' residence

"Wow, this is lovely." Elena admired the interior architecture of Klaus' home. She had just entered the house, being let in by her bubbly blonde friend.

Caroline looped her arms through her friend's, led her through the corridor and grinned. "I know, right?! Klaus let me make some changes. Just wait till you see the rest of it."

The three Mikaelson brothers were in the dining room, each with a glass of wine in their hand. Elijah smiled as his girlfriend approached.

"Elena. So good to see you, darling." he greeted her with a gentle peck on the lips.

She beamed at him. "You too, honey."

"When did you two start calling each other that?! It sounds kinda mushy." Kol commented, "Then again, what else would I expect from my brother Elijah?! He's alsways been a softie. Though after his last failed attempt of a fairytale, I still say it's a miracle he got a woman again."

"Kol! Must you always be so snarky?" Elijah gave him a scolding glance.

The mischivous Mikaelson grinned in return. "Oh, no, you're right. It's not at all surprising that you have a girlfriend again. After all," he paused, then continued with a devilish grin, "if they can put a man on the moon, they can put a woman on Elijah."

"Kol!"

Davina burst out laughing while Klaus chuckled. He was the only one sitting. Elijah and Kol had both decided to stand.

"Anyway, how are you feeling?" Caroline joined her boyfriend and took his hand.

He squeezed her hand gently. "Better. A little dizzy from the medications, perhaps, but otherwise alright."

"Wait. You're still feeling the effects of those meds?" It was Elena who asked this question with a concerned tone. "The after-effects should have long faded by now."

"Should we go back to the hospital?" Elijah asked, now concerned as well.

Klaus vehemently shook his head. "No way!"

He wasn't intending on saying it out loud, but he knew exactly why his meds were still kicking his arse.

Flashback

"Don't you remember? We were so good together. Three years. You loved me." Genevieve said, squeezing Klaus' hand. The dirty blonde Mikaelson was just putting his clothes in a bag, getting ready to leave the hospital. Caroline and Rebekah had promised to pick him up.

He snorted. "I remember alright. You left me for the baseball coach and laughed with him about me."

"I made a mistake." Dr Dubois admitted, "But I never forgot you. I know how you've been the last years. The coach and I split after less than a year. At first, I thought you'd moved on, but then I found out that your relationships weren't serious. What we had in High School was the only time you dated someone for real. I know what that means. You still love me, don't you?!"
