Officer Down - Part 1

Ali Riley/Fem!Reader

----------------------------------

POV: Y/N

Just a routine patrol, that's what I would think about this day going forward. It started as a routine patrol here in Los Angeles. The day would quickly turn for the darker, as our radio came to life.

"Car 5540, we have a silent alarm at the PNC bank on 3rd and White." Dispatch informed.

"Copy that dispatch, we are headed that way now, Car 5540." my partner, Jace Patterson, said back.

I hit the lights and quickly did a U-turn to head in the right direction. "What's the likelihood that this is a false alarm and we can actually get off shift in time for me to go see my future wife?"

"In this area? Unlikely, you may wanna shoot her a text. This could be a while." He said, pulling out his own phone to send his wife a quick text that he might be late for dinner. I handed him my phone and asked him to do the same. My phone chimed almost as soon as he handed it back to me. He pulled it back and looked it over. "Ali said that she would save you a plate and that she loves you." He locked my phone and handed it back to me.

"I can't wait to call her my wife." I whispered softly as we pulled into the parking lot. As I pulled the car to a stop, I spotted two figures in the window of the bank, each holding what looked like rifles. "Call for additional units."

Patterson did as I asked, advising dispatch that we had two heavily armed people inside the bank. More units were on the way, but the two of us watched as one of the gunmen leveled his rifle at another person and fired. The victim fell to the floor lifeless.

"We can't just sit here and do nothing." Patterson growled, his hands clenching and unclenching over and over again.

"There is nothing the two of us can do for them right now, we have to wait for backup." I argued, but my words fell on deaf ears as another shot rang out.

Patterson shook his head and got out of the patrol car. He made his way towards the side door of the bank and I could only follow, not allowing my partner to go into a dangerous situation on his own. I tapped his shoulder as I caught up with him.

"If you are going to be stupid... I might as well try and keep you alive, eh?" I whispered, as we came up to the door. We both pulled out our sidearms and took a breath. "Last chance to not do this."

He shook his head, opening the door a crack and looking in. It must have been clear, because he slipped in and I followed. The back door led to a small break room with two doors on our right and a doorway on the left. The doors on our right were labeled for bathrooms. With Patterson guarding the door, I quickly pulled one door open, finding a woman sobbing on the floor. I pressed my finger to my lips, a signal for her to keep quiet as I helped her to her feet and led her to the back door.

"Go sit next to the cop car, on the other side of it. Stay there until the other police arrive." I instructed, as another worker appeared from the other bathroom. "How many people are in the building?"

"5 workers, including the manager, maybe 10 customers and the two gunmen." the second person, a taller man in a white button up shirt said.

"Go, now." I pushed them both out the back door as another few shots rang out.

"Car 7230, on scene. Two hostages spotted coming out the back door." A voice said over the radio. I couldn't quite pair who it was, but it was definitely familiar.

I heard a click and saw that Jace had turned his radio all the way off. Not exactly a smart move, but neither was charging into a bank robbery.... With only our normal tactical gear on. I, on the other hand, turned my radio down, but left it on. The two of us stacked up on the doorway. Jace looked down the hallway and immediately pulled back into the room.
