Requests are going to be temporarily closed for the moment, just because I have several I haven't touched and work is killing me.

May 7, 2022

POV: Y/N

I sat perched on the edge of my seat, watching my wife dribble down the pitch with the ball at her feet. It was 35 minutes into the 2022 Challenge Cup Championship game, and Spirit was down 1-0. But I had a feeling Ashley was going to change that. She's an amazing forward. I jumped to my feet as the goal went in, surprising the hell out of my flat mates.

"That's My Girl!" I cheered, with Erika Tymrak and Kaylie Collins staring at me.

"We get it... that's your girlfriend... It was one goal. Relax." Tymrak said, grabbing my arm and tugging me back onto the couch.

"I think her cheering for her girlfriend is cute... excessive but cute." Collins said laughing.

"I can't help but be proud of her, E. I love her."

Erika rolled her eyes and sighed. "We know... you say it multiple times a day."

I shrugged, not really able to defend that. I did say that I love her multiple times a day and I would never stop doing so. My teammates, just like my national team teammates and the public, didn't know that Ashley and I got married 4 years ago, when we both were 23. We met when we were in college. She and a few of her teammates came up to Salt Lake City for a night out. They ran into my team and got to talking, which led me to her. We talked the night away and finally she ended up in my apartment, asleep in my bed as I crashed on the couch. I refused to let her and her friends drive back down to their campus intoxicated. We got married in 2018, in a very small ceremony of just our families. She got drafted to North Carolina that year, just as I was drafted to Orlando, my current club. She was traded a few times, even sent on loan to Melbourne City in Australia. I stayed in Orlando the whole time, back up to Ashlyn Harris.

Refocusing on the game, I noticed it was half time and the score was still level at 1 all. I sighed, grabbing my phone and sending my wife a text just saying that I love her.

"Have you thought any more about resigning with Pride... or are you going to try and get in somewhere else?" Kaylie asked, looking at me.

"I've been discussing it with my manager." I frowned. "It's time for me to settle down, ya know? Thinking about seeing if I can get in with Washington, finally be on the same team as Ash."

"I get that." Kaylie agreed quickly. "Does Ashley know you're talking about a possible trade?"

"No, I didn't want to give her false hope. She's got two more years on her contract, so most likely she isn't going anywhere."

The three of us talked throughout the rest of the game, watching Spirit fall to Courage.

"Tough game... but they did well." Erika said, as she got up. "I'm going to head to the gym, anyone up to coming with?"

"I'll go." Kaylie spoke up, also standing and heading to get ready.

"I'm going to stay here, hopefully catch Ash on a phone call." I shook my head, heading into my room. I waited until I heard them leave before I dialed my wife.

"Hello?" She answered.

"Hello my love..."
