A/N: So we are gonna pretend that Hope didn't go on a Twitter rant, post 2016 Olympics, and didn't get herself suspended indefinitely. She bit her tongue, kept her head down and continued playing.

Good Talk...

POV: Hope Solo

The victory tour was well underway. We had won our fourth star and we were celebrating that fact. As we got off the bus at the hotel after our most recent game, I was called over to the coaches. Jill seemed confused, but motioned for me to follow her down the hall. I looked back and spotted a concerned look on Kelley's face. It wasn't often that someone was pulled aside in the middle of a Victory Tour. We stopped in the middle of a hallway and Jill turned to me.

"Solo, there are some people here that need to speak with you..." Jill said, motioning to one of the conference rooms behind her. "I think it's best you speak with them now."

I nodded, schooling my features and going into the conference room. I was met with two marines in full dress uniform. One was sitting, his hands held ever so gently in front of him. As I stepped fully into the room both marines stood and looked at me. I could tell by their ranks that one was higher than the other.

"Hope Amelia Solo?" One Marine asked, a Staff Sergeant if I remembered correctly.

"Yes." I could feel my throat dry out in an instant. There were very few reasons that someone would get a pair of marines just showing up. None of them are good.

"I have been asked to inform you that your daughter, Corporal Y/N Solo, has been reported missing in Afghanistan at 2:45 pm local time, yesterday. Corporal Solo was with her unit on a patrol and they were struck by an IED. She was separated from her unit and has disappeared. On the behalf of the Secretary of Defense, I extend to you and your family my deepest sympathy at this time. As soon as we have more information, it will be made available to you."

His words hit me like a punch in the chest. Y/N was missing and they didn't seem hopeful in finding her. It took several seconds before I felt like I could speak. So many questions raced through my mind. Before I could ask anything, there was a knock on the door and Kelley popped her head in.

"Hopey... Jill said you might need..." Kelley's eyes fell on the Marines. "You might need me... what's happening?"

"Y/N is missing." I answered, and I could feel the tears beginning to fall. "They were telling me that Y/N went missing... while deployed."

Kelley came in completely and wrapped her arms around me. "She's gonna be ok. She has to be. She's Mini-Solo."

The Marines advised that they would be back with information as quickly as possible, and swiftly left. It wasn't long before Kelley decided that it would be best for us to head to my hotel room. She got me to my feet and out the door. In the hallway we encountered a few teammates. Ashlyn and Alyssa both looked rather stunned to see me, the Stone-Faced Hope Solo in tears. No one said a word. I slipped into my room and curled into bed, forgetting about the win we just had. Y/N may not be my blood, but she was my daughter and at that moment, I felt like a piece of me shattered.

The days passed with no further information available about Y/N and the search. The days turned into weeks, which turned into months. Time seemed to crawl and speed along at the same time.
