"Jesus fucking Christ, kid! You see this shit? Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, get to the goddamn bunker! Now!" Dutch yelled through my radio.
"I'm on my way, Dutch. With a few people if you don't mind." I replied calmly.
"Bring 'em. I don't mind... See ya in a few. Dutch out."
"He was right! He was right!" Pratt shouted uneasily, his lip quivering as his eyes glistened. "The birds! Fuck! He was right! HE WAS FUCKING RIGHT!"
"SHUT UP, PRATT!" Hudson screamed at her colleague. "We're gonna die... we're gonna die... we're gonna die... we're gonna die! We're gonna die!" Joey exclaimed with a few tears rolling down her cheeks. "Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus!"
"DRIVE! Get us to that bunker!" Whitehorse ordered as I pushed the gas pedal to the metal. "GO, GO, GO! Watch the road! Watch out!"
"I'm fucking trying." I gripped the steering wheel tightly as I tried to dodge birds, limbs, falling trees, and cars that were on fire. "I'm getting us there one way or another. Mary May and the rest of the crew is behind us." I glanced at Mary's truck in my rearview mirror, following my lead.
"Look out!" Earl shouted as I quickly shifted my eyes from the mirror to the road. "Go around!"
There was a wrecked log truck with trees everywhere in the road. I had to squeeze in-between the truck and the scattered out trees, barely making it.
"Thanks, Earl." I murmured, keeping a better eye on the road.
"Don't mention it..." Whitehorse breathed out as the red sky and its smoke had only gotten worse. "Keep going. Don't stop."
"We're going to burn to death for our sins!" Staci panicked, his breathing labored. "We're going to burn in hell for everything we've done! Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen..."
"The tree! The tree!" Joey called out as a flaming tree started to fall towards the ground in front of us. "SHUT THE FUCK UP, PRATT!"
I swerved the truck to dodge the falling tree with success.
"Turn! Turn! TURN!" Earl shouted as the road ahead was blocked, so I did, our truck now on a dirt road.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." Hudson cursed as the road broke off.
"Hold on guys." I stated, trying to keep calm as I forced the truck to go off the edge.
"Hang on!" Whitehorse screamed, holding onto the dashboard in front of him.
We had fell about ten feet but landed on all four wheels. Phew, that was fucking scary.
I continued to make my way toward Dutch's bunker; the only way out of this hell hole, literally.
"We're not gonna make it... we're not gonna make it!" Pratt told Whitehorse, clutching onto Earl's seat.
"Sit back!" Earl yelled at Staci as he did what he was told.
"Look out... tree!" Joey shrieked as I looked back at the road.
The truck was going too fast for me to dodge the incoming tree that was on fire.
"Brace for impact!" I hollered out as our truck crashed head on into the huge tree, my vision fading to black after hitting my head against the wheel...
Slowly, I awoke. My eyes fluttered open and my vision came back. But my heart shattered at what my eyes had just now seen... Earl went through the windshield, Hudson's head went through her window's glass, and Pratt was laid down in the back. The three of them were dead. Gone forevermore...
