I'll do anything to keep Hope County safe. These innocent people can't fight against the cult, they need protectors, people that are able to fight, and people that are willing to die to save them. And that's what I'm willing to do. Nothing and no one can stop me.

After Dutch warned me about John's men, I got in my car, put it in drive and slammed on the accelerator, causing the old car to lurch forward with a groan. It went from 0 to 40 in a few seconds, then 40 to 60 in a couple more seconds. Not long after, my radio buzzed.

"It's deputy hunting season." I'm assuming a cultist said on the radio.

Oh no. Fuck.

I began looking around to see if I could spot a cultist, but I didn't see anything or anyone. But seconds later, I heard a plane fly over me and a cultist truck pull up behind me.

"Capture! Not kill! Hit her with the bliss bullets." The voice ordered through the radio as bullets penetrated through my car. "We need the Deputy alive— just one bliss bullet will do it!"

"Shit..." I muttered as I slammed on the gas harder, causing the old car to go from sixty mph to ninety-one mph; the car's engine made a noise as I forced it to go faster in an attempt to escape the peggies.

"We're gonna get ya!" The same cultist yelled through the radio continuously firing away at my car.

I was trying to dodge the bullets, however I was going to fast because the next thing I know, my car tipped over and crashed into a tree. My head hit my window and I was upside down. For fuck's sake...

Black dots started to cloud my vision from the hard blow to my temple. I groaned from the pain. I tried to kick the window to escape the smoking vehicle.

"I shot at her and she wrecked! Her car flipped! Hopefully she's still alive." A male cultist asserted over the radio. "Father, please let her be alive!"

"The Father wants her alive. If she's not, we're toast. Check your fire— we only need to hit her once if she's conscious. Don't let her escape." A different cultist ordered.

"Copy that." The man replied back.

Once I broke the window and climbed out, a cultist aimed their gun at me, shooting me with a bliss bullet. I didn't have time to react as I fell to the ground. My vision became blurred even more. I tried resisting the bliss, not wanting to be captured. My pistol was holstered in the holster, so, I grabbed it, attempting to murder the cultist in front of me. I missed because the bliss was affecting my vision.

"Stop fighting the bliss!" She shouted as she sprinted over to me and snatched my gun out of my hand.

Unfortunately, I couldn't fight the bliss off any longer and darkness took over...

"Woo yeah! Tie her up!"

I awoke feeling nauseous, so sick to my stomach; the bliss continued to screw with my eyesight. The realization that I was laying on the ground beside a river freaked me out a little. One thing that did scare me: water. Deep water.

Mine and my brother's mom drowned when I was little. We had a swimming pool and she was drunk and our dad dared her to jump in the deep end to overcome her fear. And the daredevil she was, did it. She didn't come back up. Ever since then, water has scared me. My dad blamed himself ever since and took to a needle for help, as well as alcohol.

A cultist walked up to me, but pointed at someone else. "This one?"

A different cultist said, "No, this one." He started to walk close to me.

My ears were ringing; I wasn't for sure if I was hearing them correctly.

"Don't seem very worthy."

"It is not for us to judge. Deliver them unto the waters. The Cleansing begins tonight."
