As Steve walked toward his car, Harper kept a distance behind, strolling with Harry. The strangers nodded at them or lifted their beer bottles in the air. She responded with a tight smile.

"Congratulations, you became what you swore to destroy," she muttered.

"I'm not like them."

"What are your intentions then?"

"To be feared and respected, no one should be able to mess with us again."

"Be careful. What happened tonight has bruised some egos."

"I'm aware. I'll always be on my guard. I have my team too."

"Okay"

After they settled in the car, Harper rolled the window down. Harry approached, leaned, and put his head inside.

"Be careful when you drive," he addressed Steve.

"Sure"

"She will never bother either of you again."

"Unbelievable, three kids from a quiet neighborhood stood up against all these brats," Steve admitted.

"It worked in our favor. I won't be back until the morning. Harper, you cover for me just in case."

She smiled. "Of course, I have no choice now."

Harry nodded. "That's true."

"Before leaving, can I ask you something?"

"Sure"

"How long do you plan to be with these guys? They don't look like they invite anybody in their group."

"Okay, this is what I thought too. You stood up against those thugs, fair and square. They have been intimidated by you, a seventeen-year-old. Bruised egos, Harry, they might use you."

"Almost eighteen, and no, I'm not as stupid as you think, am I? You two should not worry because I have my loyal friends with me."

Harper covered his hand and advised, "Don't be reckless. This road is dangerous, and I'm not talking about the hill."

He shuffled her hair and promised. "You underestimate me, Harper. If I had maybe informed you about my secret lifestyle much earlier, you wouldn't worry. I promise to be careful and never do anything which will harm our family."

"Thank you."

"Drive safe, bye."

Smiling, Steve shook his head and drove away from that crowd. Headlights illuminating the onward road, he once again stayed vigilant on the dangerous curves. They stayed quiet and laughed it off upon arriving at the bottom of the hill.
