This time her parents left the house when online classes were ongoing. Jenna sent her a text while her Chemistry teacher discussed fractional distillation of crude oil. She kept asking questions and often targeted the same five students, including Harper. When she began to give notes, Harper seized the opportunity and unlocked her phone.

Paul has to meet his boss at his house since the office isn't allowed to open yet, while Jenna is going to spend some more time at her mother's place after grocery shopping. Food, as usual, is kept in the fridge.

She shook her head and resumed her work. Once done, she opened her bedroom door and caught Harry dressed up in black jeans and a navy blue hoodie with a bag pack slung on one shoulder.

"Hey, sis, I'll be back in no time."

"Where are you going?"

She followed him down the stairs.

"It's not the first time you'll be home alone, Harper. Lock the door or call Steve over if it makes you safer."

"Harry, you can't keep doing this."

"They will not be back before dinner. We are going to the woods this time to enjoy a bit of light hiking, sandwiches, and juice. Don't worry. No one will get drunk or involved in reckless activities."

"Oh yeah, since when do you hike?"

"New hobby, we'll be a group of five friends chilling in nature for about two to three hours. Then, we'll be back home."

"What if there are people patrolling or adults going to hike as well? What if you get caught?"

"Can you not jinx it? We can distinguish between frequented woods and deserted ones."

"If I may ask, how do you know?"

He opened a cabinet and filled his bag with soft drink cans and snacks. Opening the tap, he refilled his water bottle.

"Do you take drugs?"

"What- of course not."

"What about your friends?"

"Not all of them"

Harper shook her head in disgust.

"They will trap you one day if you are not careful enough. Mom is right. You need to stay away from these kinds of people."

"Harper," he stated, grabbing her arms. "I'm not a kid. I'm well informed on whom to trust. I'm always on guard, even if I look goofy or pretend cool. Those bitches are no match to me. Okay, stop worrying. Go do your homework like a good student."
