Chapter 16: First Kiss

Still John's POV

"NO!!!" I cried out as I saw her lifeless body.

I bend my knees and carried her. Rica's face was so pale!

"No, please! Wake up! Don't leave me alone!" I choked out.

I gently tapped her face... still no response. I better take her to the hospital!

"Rica, hold on! You're going to be fine."

I rushed her to the hospital. The people around me looked at us.

"Did that guy murder her? Or maybe she tried to kill herself... teenagers these days!" one of them said.

I hate it when they're insulting someone that I love!
"You don't know anything!" I paused from running and said that.

They won't stop mocking! I rather take all the harsh words than to lose Rica. I finally reached the hospital and asked the nurse for help.

"Help! She tried to kill herself!"

The nurse didn't bother to ask our names. She immediately took Rica to the operating room.

"I'm sorry, Sir but you're not authorize to come to this area." said the doctor as he stopped me from getting in.

I backed away and sat down on one of the hospital benches. I covered my face and cried.

"Oh, Lord. Please save her!"

I pulled out my cellphone and texted Jen:
To: Jen
Fr: John
Look what you did! Your student tried to kill herself! It may sound absurd that I still treat her as our student but she's still our responsibility in and out of the school. You know why? 'Cause she's an orphan and she already lost her parents a long long time ago! You should be ashame of yourself, Jen! I may sound harsh but wake up!

*Three hours later*
Rica's POV

I woke up in a white room... the hospital I assume. Who saved me? And why? I wanted to die!

I saw a two shadows outside my room. It must be the doctor and... I dunno who.

"She's stable, Mr. Cooper."

"Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!"

Wait, why is John here?! I told him not to! He's so stubborn! John walked in. He took pity on me as he saw a lot of tubes connected to me. I sat up but he gently pushed me back down again.

"Don't push yourself. Take rest, Rica."

"I wanted to be put out of misery but you..." tears brimmed in my eyes.

"Why?"

I handed John my cellphone and he browsed to my messages.

"You have a brother who wants to kill you?! I'll get him!"

"No! John, you don't know him and he's still my brother."

"Brother? He's acting like a demon if you ask me!"

"This isn't all about my brother, John! The reason I also wanted to die because I can't bear to see Jen and you together!"

"Rica... I didn't mean to hurt you." John calmed down.

I sighed. A long silence followed. In the moment of silence, all I can think of is my life after this.

"It's okay..." I muttered under my breath.

"What?" John leaned close to me.

I also leaned closer to him and kissed his soft... lips for the first time. He widened his eyes but I deepen the kiss. He moaned and he interwined our hands together. We stayed like that for a full 3 minutes until... the door swayed open.

"John?! Rica?!"

We broke the kiss and Jen was standing there dumbfounded.
