TWELVE

"LARISSA KIMI COHEN! YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME AGAIN!"

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit."

Larissa ran for her life once more as she fled from her trainer, having told Lucy that she was going to refill her water bottle before she disappeared so that she would not need a lung transplant.

Lucy gave chase, running after the fleeing girl before she lost her, annoyed once again that she had managed to get away from her.

"Damn you, kid."

Larissa had managed to hide, out of sight of her trainer as she tried to get her breath back, her ribs still aching from her crash in Shanghai. The dull ache became a sharp stabbing pain as she breathed in, having broken some of her ribs from the impact with the wall, which thankfully nobody knew about except herself and the doctor at the hospital in China.

"Is there any reason you're hiding behind my car?"

"Shut up, Lucy will find me if she looks and sees you talking to your rear wing." Larissa breathed out as she closed her eyes, just hoping that she would not be found.

"My trailer is free for you to hide in."

Larissa's eyes shot open immediately, staring at the blue eyed man in surprise. Her mouth was slightly ajar, lips parted as she stared at him, before her eyes glanced down at his waiting hand.

"If your trainer sees me holding my hand out to my rear wing, she will find you." Larissa rolled her dark brown eyes as he mocked her earlier words.

She quickly glanced around to make sure that her trainer wasn't around, before she took a hold of his hand and ran with him to his trailer.

"Maxie, you're my hero." She smiled in relief as soon as he closed the door once they were inside, locking them in so that Lucy couldn't find her.

Max Verstappen couldn't hide the small blush that coated his features at the nickname as he nodded his head. "Double espresso?"

Larissa furrowed her eyebrows together. "How'd you know that I only drink double espressos?"

Max's lips twitched up in to a smile, lowering his head so that he was staring at his shoes. "Every time I see you, you have a double espresso in your hand."

The Brazilian watched him in confusion. She knew that he had a crush on her, but she didn't know for long he had actually been crushing on her. He was never in her eyesight when ever she had a double espresso, so had he been watching her, staring at her even when she couldn't see him?

"You want caramel syrup with your espresso?"

Larissa was snapped out of her thoughts by the Dutch man, his steel blue eyes staring at her with caution. How did he know that?

"Uh, yes please."

Within seconds she was handed a small cup, filled to the brim with an espresso, and as soon as she took a cautious sip, her eyes widened massively.

He had used the perfect amount of syrup.

What the fuck?

"So, congrats on the podium at Baku. Must be a big deal for you, right?" Max questioned as he slowly sat down near her. Not too close but close enough for his heart to start beating rapidly, threatening to beat out of his chest.

"I mean, it was my first formula one podium, so of course it's a big deal, but I'll be over the moon when I get my first grand prix win, which I'm hoping will be my home race." Larissa admitted with a sigh. "It'll just be a lot of pressure on me, I guess."
