"𝗶 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶'𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗱𝗼."- 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱i woke up to jasmine yelling in my ear. i was about to slap her in the face. i hate being woken up, it enrages me. "𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽, 𝗶 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴." she said shaking me. after 20 minutes of her doing this i got up.
"𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗷𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲." "𝗶 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲." i bolted up searching everywhere. i needed my phone so i could text my boss that i wouldn't be coming into work today, i didn't need to be fired. i had bills and school to pay.
i was becoming hysterical as i was searching for my phone. "𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯, 𝗶 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶'𝗺 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗸." jasmine said shrugging her shoulders. if i left my phone at the club i knew it wouldn't be there.
tears streamed down my eyes as i knew i couldn't afford to lose my job. i knew i only needed to focus on college and not going to clubs and getting drunk. jasmine came near me and hugged me. "𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆, 𝗶 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲."
she held me like how a mother would hold there child. somehow she made everything feel better. "𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲!" she dragged me out of my bed and made me get ready. i but on some shorts and a shirt and walked out of my apartment to her car.
she drove to the club where i lost my phone. jasmine spoke to the workers and they said it hadn't been turned in at all. we walked back to the car when jasmine saw that she got a text from someone. "𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝘆 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗮𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂?"
the name joão didn't ring a bell. was he a regular customer and noticed me gone from the cafe or something? i was way to confused. "𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶'𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁." jasmine handed me her phone eagerly.
i never call anyone on instagram. as the phone was in my hand i noticed that his account was verified. i wasn't famous nor did i want to be. i didn't see the point, you can live a nice peaceful life instead. either way i wasn't going to be scared to call him.
it rung about three times until a groggy voice answered. "𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗲?" i said clearly confused about this whole thing. "𝘂𝗵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗵, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲." i was relieved instantly.
"𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗶 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲-" i stopped him from talking any further. "𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗶'𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸?" i said laughing. but seriously i did need my phone back asap.
"𝗶'𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲." he said. i could tell he was smirking through the phone. but if he wanted to be bold two could play that game. "𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗲'𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻?"
"𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲." he says laughing. i rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see me. "𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝗶'𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗮𝗽 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅." he laughed at the comment and said, "𝗶 𝘄𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗮𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘆𝗲𝘁."
jasmine gave me a look. everyone has a look they give there best friends. she gave me a "you're so in love with him look." i couldn't be in love with him, after my high school relationship ended i promised myself i wouldn't fall in love again. love never gets you anywhere.
yes he was very attractive and nice but i would never see myself falling for him. "𝗶 𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮 𝗴𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶'𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶'𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲." we said our goodbyes and i leaned the seat of car back and took in a big breath.
even if he wasn't serious about having to go on date with him to get my phone back, i felt obligated too. i mean he saved my phone from many thieves who would've sold it, or took my information. "𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗮𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅!?" now i may live in portugal, but i've never been a big football fan.
jasmine was already doing her research on him. he played in last years world cup, played with CR7, and overall what i gathered was the he was really good. but just how far would this date lead us. i came from a poor family and i'm still not that well off. dating a rich guy wouldn't do me any well.
when we got home jasmine insisted that i go on this date, not because he's wealthy but because she saw "chemistry." yeah two people who meet at a club have fucking chemistry sometimes i think this girl needs her head checked out.
she made me go take a shower so that way she could do my curly hair. i like my hair better when it's straight because it just looks better on me, but she said that i need to "embrace my curls." she did my hair and did simple makeup.
i picked out a backless tank top and biker shorts. it was hot today and i didn't want to be caught wearing sweats with everything finished, jasmine heard a ding from her phone, she ran up to me squealing, "𝗵𝗲'𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲!"
