irang fiddled with the fingers as her teeth nervously bit her lips. before her, is her laptop, flashing the e-mail while the cursor idled right by the notification mail sent by seoul national university.

1,
2,
3!

and alas, the content of the e-mail was revealed.

congratulations! we would like to inform you that you have successfully passed the entrance exam for the summer semesters of this school year. welcome to seoul national university, ms. seol irang!

thud! irang fall to her seat as her eyes widened.

"hoo—" she was about to cheer and call for sunghoon.. but realized that unlike their promise of being there once they admit themselves to their college of choice, sunghoon is absent.

"hoon..." irang trailed off as she looked blankly at the space beside her, the spot where sunghoon supposedly would take.

she is alone, in her room. in the distance, she could still see the clean clothes sunghoon left. she could still see sunghoon's phone charger that he purposely leave.

and in the distance, irang could still see the penguin doll that she so badly wanted to give him.

without him, she could not enjoy the bliss of any moment.

...

"park sunghoon." irang smiled. "honestly, i was feeling sad earlier because these days, i feel neglected by my family. these days, i feel like they only ever notice me whenever you're around." she confessed.

...

sunghoon was the only person she ever felt comfortable enough to share her thoughts to. and without him, she felt like she lost a part of her... like she couldn't process everything. as if any pressure bestowed to her would pressure and overwhelm her.

"hoon would've loved this.." if only we're still close. irang sighed as she laid at her bed in silence and solitude.

in her hands is the penguin doll. she's been staring at it for at least 30 minutes now, thinking of ways of giving it to sunghoon.

but how could she even do that? they're no longer friends, they don't even talk anymore.

"he's my boyfriend, not yours." she always had to be reminded of that whenever she thinks of her old friend.

she hoped to see him one last time, to talk to him— to get the clarity she wants that their friendship is still not over. and they say regret only comes when it's all too late...

without him, she felt incomplete.
