“Harry?” I heard January call from my kitchen, I flicked the TV off and strolled into the kitchen, she was looking in the yellow pages, I didn’t even know I had a yellow pages. She looked up upon my entry, her dark eyes filled with anxiety.
“Yeah babe?” I asked her.
“Have you heard from Ashley?” She said, I shook my head and looked at her inquiringly, “she called me last night but I didn’t answer and I kinda broke my phone.” I nodded, walking over to the counter and pulling my own phone out of my pocket. Dead.
“Have you seen my charger?” I sighed, she shook her head. I rifled through the cupboards until I found the black plug with the long cord and inserted the plug in the socket and the other end in the bottom of my phone. It buzzed and the screen lit up showing the symbol for the model. I waited for it to pick up signal drumming my fingers impatiently on the counter. It buzzed.
“Is it from her?” January asked me worriedly. I nodded.
“‘Daniel taking me on surprise holiday, be back in a few weeks,’” I read aloud, January’s face relaxed in relief; “she probably just sent it out to all her contacts.” She nodded again, “are you coming tonight?” I asked her, approaching her and wrapping my arms around her waist with her back pushed against the counter, she rested both her hands on the plains of my chest.
“I don’t know quite yet,” she said, her voice seductive. I nuzzled my head into her neck and she giggled pushing her head up, allow me to delve into her neck further.
“Is this working?” I asked her, she let out a soft moan. I hitched her thighs up and placed her on the counter. She gave me a quick peck on the cheek.
“C’mon,” she said, hopping off the counter.
“Where?” I said, following after her like a pining dog.
“Well,” she said playfully, “if I’m going to come tonight I need something to wear.”

“What do you mean?” she gasped stunned, shit I shouldn’t have said anything.
“We can’t keep you here forever,” I shrugged, “after this is all over I kind of want to get on with my life.”
“You can get on with your life without doing any of this shit,” she cried indicating to the corkboard.
“Harry ruined my life, he needs to pay for that,” I said simply.

“January, will you come on!” I heard Harry shout down the hall, “I have sound check.” They were doing a One Direction’s greatest hits concert tonight in GAY. I sighed, I hadn’t even moved on to make up and was still only curling the front of my hair, and I only had a silk night gown.
“Jan!” he said, looking into the room now.
“Go on,” I sighed, “I’ll meet you there, Tanya’s coming round in five anyway!” I said. He thought for a moment before nodding, he went to leave, “hey!” I said indignantly.
He looked back in, “what?” he asked confused.
I went to him quickly and planted a kiss on his cheek, “now you can go,” I beamed and he gave me a cheeky grin before leaving.

“I have a kid!” I shouted at him indignantly, he looked confused for a second.
“I didn’t know that,” Darren admitted sadly, he looked away, was it possible that he could have a heart?
“I have a little girl, and you want her to grow up without a mum?” I asked, I read once that the best way to survive a kidnapping was to make the kidnapper see you as a real person.
He pressed his hands into his face, “so what do you propose?” he asked helplessly, maybe he had just realized that I had nothing to do with this.
“Let me go,” I said simply.
“I need to think,” he said, running a hand through his hair, “go back to your room, I’ll find you later,” he said turning away.
“You can just pawn me off!” I began to argue, he stuck his hand down the back of his trouser and pulled out a revolver and turned to me.
“Go back to your fucking room.” He spat, “I will find you later.”

It was a few hours later, I was still staring at the board, I didn’t know where January’s new apartment was going to be located, I knew where Harry’s was of course, but what if he was there when we made our move? No, I was only going to have one shot at this so I better do it right.
I heard footfalls enter the room, I tapped the blank spot beside January’s picture where location should have been.
“Darren?” I turned to see Daniel standing in the doorway.
“Yes?” I asked in a business like tone.
“The blonde one is demanding you talk to her,” I stared at the board, tapping it hesitantly on the blank spot, the answer was obvious, but I’d be giving up a lot if I used it.
“Right, I’ll see her now, is she still in the room?” I said finally turning round, Daniel nodded before walking out of the room.
I walked down the hall and pushed open the door to her room, she was sitting cross legged on her bed, her hair damp and curling at the tips, clearly she had used her free time to get a shower. I closed the door over.
“So, can I go?” she asked instantly.
I shook my head, she looked disgruntled, “you weren’t seriously expecting a yes there, where you?”
“I just want to get home to my daughter,” she replied looking at me straight in the eyes, hers were filled with determination.
“I can’t just let you waltz out of here,” I said slowly, her shoulders drooped and she leaned back on the cold wall, “But I will let you go.”
She jumped up instantly, “what’s the catch?” she may be blonde but she didn’t miss a beat.
“I will let you go if…” I trailed off.
“If?” she pressed.
“If you tell me where January’s new apartment is.”
