I breathed a sigh of relief that I had been holding for five years, it was done, Darren would be out of our lives for good, sure there would probably be a trial but with so much overwhelming evidence, did he really stand a chance? I doubted it, and until he was behind bars I would keep January safe, even if that meant taking her to another country, whatever happened, I would keep her safe.
“Harry?” her gentle touch and whisper interrupted my thoughts, we were still on the mountain top, “do the boys know you’re okay?”
“Shit!” I cussed, making her jump slightly, I ran a hand through my hair, “I…I…” she looked at me anxiously, I looked away from her, “I said some terrible things when I saw them last.” I admitted, peeking up at her from underneath my mess of hair which clouded my vision, her mouth formed a small ‘o’ shape.
“Harry,” she said with a sympathetic tone and touched my arm lightly, “they’ll get it…do they know?” I nodded and rolled my head back.
“I’ll call Niall,” I decided, “I have two things to apologise for with him,” I added with a guilty smirk, January looked at me confused, her eyebrows furrowed and I sighed, “I broke into his apartment to steal a gun.” January sat up and slapped me lightly on the chest.
“Harry Edward Styles!” she said accusingly and I laughed at her huffed up face.
“Don’t middle name me woman!” I joked back and she slid off the car bonnet and looked at me hands on hips, her hair sticking up all over the place.
“I do what I like.” She remarked before continuing, “Harry. Edward. Styles.” I growled at her and leapt off the car bonnet and tackled her to the ground playfully, our fingers interlinked as I lay on top of her, she giggled happily.
“You know,” I said pensively, as I dangled over her, “this reminds me of a certain occurrence in a bathroom stall.”
“Harrrrry,” she groaned at my teasing.
“Januarrrrry,” I replied sarcastically, she puffed some of my hair from her face and I moved closer to tickle her more with it, she twitched laughing, unable to rub the trails of her face.
“Ring the boys!” she said at last and I remembered the task at hand.
“Do I have to?” I whined like a little child and she laughed at me, pulling her legs from underneath me, I rolled onto my side to allow her release, and she scrambled up hugging her legs.
“Call them!” she instructed and I rolled my eyes at her, I took out my phone, oh good I had signal, I thought sarcastically, anything to delay the inevitable.
I gave her a joking glare and she smiled back at me. I scrolled through my contacts quickly until I hit “N” for Niall. It rang.
“Harry, where the fuck are you?” was his cheerful reply, his voice was tired, frantic and edgy with concern.
“Niall, I’m sorry!” I said trying to calm him down.
“Harry, someone broke in here…my guns gone…I’m afraid it was Darren.” Niall sounded close to tears, “Harry, January, what if…”
“No, Niall,” I said hurriedly, “it’s okay I got her, she’s safe, and I stole your gun, I couldn’t face him unarmed.”
“Oh my god Harry!” Niall said, his voice filled with disbelief, “is she okay?”
“Yeah,” I turned and smiled at January, who was absentmindedly plaiting her hair, “she’s just fine.”
“Can I talk to her?” he asked nervously.
