"You act like I'm the worst possible person to have lunch with." Rachael tossed her hair back as if to say "Bitch, I'm cute as fuck". Even though I agreed with her on a totally non-homosexual manner, it did nothing to ease my gloominess. "I finally get the chance to spend a bit of time with you ever since you hooked up with that fine as hell Kaim and this is how your treat me? Some friend you are."

"Aww, Rachael, don't be like that." She was bang on, as best friends usually are, but I wasn't about to admit that. "I'm happy to be here with you, I am. It's been a long time since we had lunch together, and you know how much I love authetic ramen."

"You're just saying that because I'm paying." Whatever. I have a healthy appreciation for authentic Japanese pork ramen. I'd even go as far as to say I'd do some sick, crazy, unhealthy crap if it meant I could have it everyday. Damn sodium. "You're only here with me because Kaim and Ms. Bradley are working on design stuff and you had content to work on this morning."

I squirmed.  "Yeah, but that doesn't mean I don't want to spend time anymore."

"Of course, it doesn't."  There was no mistaking her sarcasm.  "Then again, I can't say I blame you, though. If I had a guy like that, I'd never ever come to work and I'm pretty sure I'd chain him to my bed so he couldn't escape either."

"Geez, Rachael, it is always sex with you, isn't it?" I heard her snicker as I slurped up an ample helping of noodles. Yum. "Screw that Rabbit, we need to find you a man."

"I am perfectly all right with being single, thank you very much. Besides, maintaining a rabbit is much easier than maintaining a man. I buy batteries twice a year, and I'm never without stimulation."

"Jeez, Rach." If the ramen weren't so good, I'm quite sure I'd have lost my appetite. "You're my best friend and I've always got your back, but you're a damn freak."

"Said the pot to the kettle." She raised an eyebrow.  "Don't bother denying it, darling, I know what's going on.  You've been positively glowing ever since that hottie boyfriend of yours started working here.  I bet you enjoy riding that stallion, don't you?"

"No comment."  Again, she might have been right, but I wasn't going to tell her outright.  "I don't kiss and tell."

"You don't have to.  The looks the two of you sneak at each other are telling enough."

"I don't know what you're talking - "

"BS, Zara, you know what I mean."  She smiled as if she knew something I didn't.  "You two are totally hot for each other.  You guys try to be all strict and business-like while, but everyone sees the tension between you.  Personally, I love a good show, but you know how the other lionnesses are."

"Yeah, which is why we've been doing everything to keep things strictly business," I pointed out.  "I'd hate to lose my job, and I'd really hate for Kaim to lose him because we're seeing each other."

"Psh, Melissa the Nympho has slept with half the men in the office and she hasn't been fired yet."  She had me there.  "Besides, you can act as much as you want, but the little things always give it away."

"Little things?"  She piqued my curiosity.  "And what exactly do you mean by the 'little things'?"

"Well, for starters, unless its me or Ms. Bradley, your face gets all dark and scrunched up whenever another woman so much as breathes on him."

"That's because they do more than breathe on him, Rach!"  I got fired up just thinking about the things I've seen.  "One fed him a strawberry and one stalks him on a daily basis.  I'm surprised Melissa hasn't just up and humped his leg already."

"I would pay to see that!"  Sadly, I knew she would.  "I'd take a picture and post on Facebook so we can piss ourselves commenting about it.  But seriously though, he may think no one notices, but we know he's into you.  Why do you think all the lionnesses try to tempt him in front of your face?"
