After the dragon's sudden statement, Lisa frantically turns to me.

Lisa: "You're a father?!" She exclaims.

I can't help but chuckle a bit.

Fate: "That's your first question, of course." I shake my head with a smile, glancing at the dragon ahead of us that watches me with flaming eyes. "I'll explain things later, and we'll be having a talk later." I warn the little kitty who's left home without permission.

She still stands in front of me prepared to defend me with her life, but looks back at me with an anxious expression.

Lisa: "What about the bloody dragon in front of us?!" She yells, grabbing onto my shoulders even tighter as she hides behind me.

Fate: "Erm, I'll see what it wants." I say taking a step forward.

Evelyn stops me by remaining in place, a scared expression now on her face.

Fate: "I'll be fine, promise." I say softly to ease her worry.

She hesitantly steps to the side.

Evelyn: "Please be careful, my master." She says quietly.

Lisa: "Wait! Are you just going on your own?!" She begins to panic.

I just smile at her reassuringly.

Fate: "Evelyn, take her away from here and make sure she isn't harmed." I request.

A flash of shock appears on Lisa's face as she opens her mouth to object to my plan. But Evelyn has already swept her off her feet, with a surprising amount of strength for such a small body, dashing far down the road.

Lisa: "Be safe!" I hear her call as her voice grows distant.

I turn back to the dragon that stands just up ahead waiting patiently for me. As I approach and study its figure, I close my eyes as I let a memory resurface.

A memory from a long time ago, where images of a woman I loved flash through my mind. Memories bittersweet flood my brain as her name escapes my mouth.

Fate: "Iroha..." I savour the name, allowing myself to enjoy the memories just a little longer before leaving it all behind once more.

???: "That was my mother's name, it is of no surprise to me that you remember her. I was right to confront you tonight, father." The dragon's nostrils flare as it speaks.

Fate: "What do you want, dragon?" I ask with calm eyes as they open once more.

???: "I wish to learn more about my mother, and the man she so foolishly fell in loved with who was the cause of her demise." They answer with a low growl.

I can feel her want for battle and see the hostility in her eyes.

Fate: "Really? You seem rather ready to kill me." I point out.

???: "That is the plan." They growl menacingly.

I continue studying the dragon, trying to remember who this is.

Fate: "And why is that?" I ask to stall for time.

???: "You were my mother's lover, I must find what she saw that made her throw her life away for a mortal like you." They answer immediately.

Fate: "Killing me won't provide you answers."

???: "Then don't die." They growl, the air growing warmer around us.

There wasn't going to be any more stalling for time, and the fact that we're on the main road not too far away from Larene means anyone could appear at any time.
