Chapter 35: Smirks & Stutters

Ivy's POV

"Morning," Ben whispered into the crook of my neck before placing a gentle kiss on my sweet spot his discovered last night.

"Good morning," I smiled.

I rolled over so I could curl up on Ben's bare chest. He hummed softly and ran his finger tips up and down my back.

"I REALLY enjoyed last night," Ben boyishly grinned down at me.

"Me too," I chuckled.

His body heat and the thin sheet somehow created a warmth that was pulling me to go back to sleep.

"Did I wear you out that much last night?" He teased.

"Shut up," I groaned.

Ben slipped out from underneath me and climbed out of bed.

"Where are you going?" I frowned.
"I have to get down to the office."

"Can't they deal without you for one day?" I pouted.

Ben pulled on a clean pair of boxers with a smirk on his face, "I can, but I'll need a REALLY good reason."

I bit my bottom lip to contain my smirk as I lifted the sheet to reveal my smooth legs that were no longer tan from the California sun.

"Let me go make a phone call and let my assistant know that I won't be coming in today so he can cancel my meetings," he winked.

As soon as he walked out of the room, I reached over and picked up my phone off the nightstand.

I snapped a picture of my long legs with the sheet resting just above my knees.

"I'm back," Ben announced with a smirk.

We lay in the bed that was even messier now than when we woke up, tangled up in the sheets, and panting to catch our breaths.

"I think I just found my new exercise," he chuckled.

I tried to laugh, but I was so out of the breath I didn't get much out.

Ben rolled over and pecked my lips, "I love you."

My heart stopped.

It was as if he had accidentally blurted it out, for he quickly stuttered in search for an excuse.

"I-I-I-" He stuttered.

What do I say? Do I tell him that I love him too? Do I love him? I mean I really like him, but am I ready to say those three words?

We awkwardly laid there, not really sure what to say after that incident. It shouldn't be that hard to say those three words, but they're so meaningful you can't say it without meaning it.

"I really like you Ben," I bit my lip nervously. "I want to say.. those three words back, but I'm not really ready for that."

He nodded his head, "I understand. I'm sorry I said it. I shouldn't push you so hard for anything you're not ready for."

"Thank you," I gently smiled and pecked his lips.

Sorry for the short and kinda sucky chapter!

Anyway.. this chapter was kinda based off something that happened to me last week. I told my boyfriend 'I love you' for the first time 😁

It was the first time I've ever told a guy (that wasn't family) those three words.

We've held off for a little while on saying those three words because we agreed that people now days say it too often without truly meaning it.

I'm so happy right now there are no words to express how happy I've been since then 😄❤️😍
