"Okay party people first things first!" Jacob bellows preparing to order the group around. "Nick and y/n go get some firewood so we can have a bonfire, Emma and I will go to the stores for supplies, Abi and Kaitlyn can come up with some party games and Dylan... I don't know find a charger or something"

You silently praise Jake for pairing you up with Nick, not that you needed his permission on who to work with but it was easier this way. You noticed the half timid half smug look across Nick's face and throw him a mischievous grin. You loved making him nervous.

Going through the trails beside Nick you pick up bits of wood and twigs along the way. "It's actually really pretty out" you remark breaking the peaceful silence.

"Yeah you are- I mean it is" he stammers.

His slip up made you giggle and he crosses his arms "don't laugh at me" he jokes.

You don't stop when he tries to cover your mouth to get you to be quiet- he trips and falls in his attempt which has you bursting out in an even bigger fit of laughter.

"Well done" you mock upon regaining composure.

"Not my fault I fell for you" he smirks and you roll your eyes dramatically.

You walk together after helping him brush off the newly acquired dirt on his shoes. "Remember when we first met?" He asks out of the blue.

"Uh yeah- I bumped into you late at night in the kitchen" you nod thinking back to your first day.

He chuckles "you ran into me in the kitchen and asked if we had any eggs- I said yes and helped you find them and showed you where we kept the frying pans, while I was doing the kids some breakfast for the morning you nearly burnt the whole place down!"

"Hey! It was dark and I couldn't tell how over done they were!" You defend.

It's his turn to laugh at you now and you copy his attempt at smothering him- only you actually succeed. Your hands plaster over his mouth and he freezes in place dropping the sticks he'd been holding. You stare into his dark eyes for a few moments before letting him go. This clearly sparks a ... different type of nostalgia within him.

"Remember the first time we kissed?" He questions more huskily.

You'd gotten into a routine of meeting him in the kitchen so he could make you something, which then turned into him teaching you how to cook up close and personal, which then turned into a steamy kitchen counter makeout session. These cooking 'lessons' became a regular thing whenever you weren't on a shift.

"Mhm" you hum in response picturing it all over again.

"Man I'm gonna miss that kitchen" he sighs making you snort.

"Remember when I snuck you into the art room after Abi swapped shifts with me?" You perk up making your own nostalgia driven question.

"Yeah, you wouldn't stop getting mad at me because I wouldn't sit still so you could paint me" he grins.

"Well I tried, not as skilled as Abi though" you shrug.

"Oh I'd say you're pretty skilled with your hands" he smirks and you give a fake gasp paired with a theatrical disgusted face. He puts his hands up in surrender "that was unchivalrous of me" he admits.

"Very" you give a pretend pout.

"Wanna hear a joke I heard about artists to make up for it?" He offers.

"Shoot" you nod waiting for something ridiculous as usual.

"Why couldn't the worlds fastest painter ever keep a girlfriend?"

"You tell me" you quip.

"He always finishes in one stroke"

You erupt in laughter and he stares at you like you're insane. The joke was definitely not funny -infarct that's why you couldn't stop laughing. "That's terrible"

"I know it's bad" he says sheepishly.

"You have got to stop taking material from Jake" you chuckle. He looks embarrassed but pleased with himself for entertaining you.

You continue to gather up sticks for the fire until you come across a small animal. It's dark out by now and hard to tell what it is so you crouch down to see "Nick look, is that a piglet or something?"

Dread grips you when you hear rustling nearby. The mama was definitely coming for her child "oh shit" Nick whisper-yells. A black furry figure bolts out into view and you prepare to be mauled but are instead met with an almost gentle impact of the grass.

You push yourself backwards to see Nick had shoved you aside and was now laying between you and a wild boar. You both hold your breath until it seems satisfied that she'd thoroughly defended her offspring. "Jesus" you hiss.

"That thing almost trampled us to death" he pants before getting an amused gleam in his eye "at least she has a good story to tell her pig husband"

"How are you sure it was the mommy?" You taunt.

"I got a pretty good look"

You wrinkle your nose "ew!"

"Think she was coming onto me" he teases with a raised brow.

"Got yourself a little side chick?" You ask sarcastically.

"She wasn't that little"

You both chuckle at his comment and pick up the dropped bits of bark heading back to base.
