I was in the middle of a peaceful sleep, only for Diego growling to awaken me. "What's the matter, friend?" I mumbled. I saw men and women approach me, making me stand up. "Hello? Is something wrong?" I asked, only for a very beautiful woman to squat in front of me.
"Hey, calm down. You remember those guys over there?" She asked, making me look behind her and see the men that offered to help me. "Yes, they offered to help my friend get food. We don't need any anymore though. Thanks," I smiled, leaning back against the tree to get comfortable again.
The woman let out a soft chuckle, making me open my eyes. "Someone would like to see you and they're paying a lot of money for us to bring you to them," she said, making me tilt my head. "No thank you. I would like to get my rest, maybe in the morning?" I asked.
My arm was grabbed, making me wince at the tight grip then pout. "Excuse me, you're hurting me," I mumbled. Diego began barking, only for them to hit him. "Diego!" I gasped, watching him cry and whimper.
"Diego!" I screamed, feeling my arms being released from their hold. I ran to him and lifted him up. "Hey, it's okay," I whispered, seeing the fur on his head slowly drip in blood. "Diego?" I sniffled, running my hand over his head.
"Why are you all so mean? I've been so nice to you!" I shout, letting out small cries. "I forgive you though. You don't know well. I've walked that entire town and all I saw was wrong, but you all just don't know any better. You're forgiven," I whispered, holding Diego.
I felt him lick my hand, making me gasp and look at him. "Little friend? You're okay!" I smiled. "How the fuck did she do that with her voice?" I hear, making me look up and see that we're surrounded. "It doesn't matter. Mac is paying us thousands to get her to him," one of the men huffed.
I held Diego as he went back to growling at them. "I-I'll go! Don't hurt him, please!" I begged. Diego let out whimpers and nudged me with his nose.
I was becoming very overwhelmed, knowing that I'm going to lose my best friend. I slowly laid down before I passed out and hurt myself. Diego's growling and barking continue to eco throughout the forest as I bald myself into a fetal position.
Before I went completely unconscious, a loud grunt silenced everyone. "Malak?"
When I woke up, I was on a soft cushion and underneath soft blankets. I took a deep breath, not smelling nature anymore. I sacrificed myself to keep Diego alive. He's a big boy so I know he can survive alone. I just wish to hold him one more time.
A knock on the door made me sit up and get out of the soft 'bed'. I believe that's what they are from the books I've read. "Wow," I mumbled, seeing a big space underneath the mattress I slept in.
I went to the door and slowly opened it. "Zagan?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. "Morning, angel," he said with that same look. He always looks so nonchalant. "Morning, Zagan. Are you Mac?" I whispered. "It's okay if you are, I just- can you check on Diego? Please?" I asked, looking down at my hands.
"I am not Mac, sweetheart. I saved you," he said and for the first smile I saw hm smile. It was more of a smirk or a smile with so much pride. "Really? Thank you," I thanked with the widest smile on my face.
I looked behind him to see if he saved Diego. "Did you get Diego? I miss him so much," I said with so much excitement. "No, I don't do dogs," he scoffed. "Oh," I whispered, feeling my heart shatter into a million pieces.
"Thank you for saving me. I'll be on my way," I mumbled. "Hold on, now. You're just going to leave after I saved you?" He asked with a frown. "I said thank you. What would you like for me to do to repay you?" I asked.
