Back Malak's POV
I woke up and felt the bed empty. "Zagan?" I called, sitting up and looked around. I rubbed my head, never being so deep in a sleep before. I usually would wake up to feeling the atmosphere changing around me. Even from a small animal like a squirrel.
Someone knocked at the door but by that familiar warmth and smell, I knew it was Zariya. "Come in, Zariya," I smiled, rubbing my eyes.
She came in and Diego was right with her. "What's that around his neck?" I panicked, getting out of the bed. "It's a collar, Malak. This help show that Diego is with you and that the pound can't take him away from you," she explained.
"Right, I remember reading that," I mumbled. "Have you seen-" I started, only for her to interrupt me. "Zagan? He went to work. We can visit him for lunch but first you need to eat breakfast and get pretty," she smiled.
I squat down, allowing Diego to run to me and show me how much he misses me. "I miss you too, friend," I laughed. He walked around me then walked to the door. "Where are you taking me?" I snickered, going to leave the room but Zariya stopped me.
"You will need this. There are some men working in the house," she informed me. "Oh," I hummed, remembering Zagan's words about if any man look at me how he does. I followed Diego to the room I slept in and let out a small gasp.
The room looked destroyed! "What happened? Oh, my. I'm so sorry!" I said to Zariya as Diego nudged his bowl of food to me. "Malak, calm down. Choose a blueprint for his room," she said as one of the workers came over to me and help up many rolls of paper.
"Oh, uh. Do you like this one?" I asked Diego, showing him the paper, I randomly chose. He let out a bark while looking at me. "This is going to be your room, Diego. The choice should be yours," I said after seeing he's not going to choose.
I bit my lip and chose a pretty active one where he can run around. "We'll be right on it, miss," the worker said then started giving out orders. "Come on, Diego. Let the hard-working men work," I smiled, heading to the kitchen. "Can I bring Diego with me to see Zagan?" I asked Zariya, watching her snicker then give me a smirk.
"Zagan would love that," she said as I clearly read the lie from her. "You don't tell the truth very well," I smiled, seeing her fold her arms. "And to think I was going to claim you as a sister," she scoffed.
I pout at her, watching her look at me then look away. "Eat so we can get you ready," she said giving me a soft smile. "Okay," I hummed, going to the dining room, remembering what happened on this exact table.
Wow, I would love for him to do that all over again. It felt so amazing! Zariya snapped me out of my reminiscing then got me started for today.
After breakfast, bathing, and getting dressed in a very pretty plaid skirt and top, we were placed in that familiar car and began riding to Zagan. Diego was not used to being in a car, so I had to calm him down.
When we did arrive, I was so happy and ready to see him. I will gladly admit that I've became attached to him, and his cuddles are so amazing. "Malak, wait!" Zariya laughed as we entered the building. "How can I help you?" Someone behind a desk asked.
"I would like to see Zagan," I smiled, seeing him look up at me then raise an eyebrow. "Are you here for business or pleasure?" He asked, making me tilt my head and look at him. "What do you mean?" I asked.
He looked at me annoyed, making me back away a little. "Are you here to discuss business or are you just one of his hoes?" He asked. "He has them? How many?" I asked, feeling so confused and disappointed.
"I do not discuss what he does, miss. I'm only here to do my job," he grumbled. How could he demand that no man looks at me the way he does but has women to look and feel on him the way I want to? "Damnit, Malak," Zariya laughed while walking towards me.
The receptionist quickly looked at Zariya then at me. "M-Malak?" He stuttered, making me worriedly look at him. "Are you alright?" I asked, watching him curse under his breath and bow his head to me. "I'm so screwed. I'm sorry," he quickly apologized then loosened his tie around his neck.
"What did you do?" Zariya asked as Diego nudged me leg. He stood up on his hind legs and wagged his tail. I picked him up and scratched behind his ear. "I'm okay," I whispered to him, only for him to whine and wiggle down.
A sudden thud made me look at Zariya and see her holding the irritated man against the desk with her hand around his throat. "You idiot," she snapped. "Zariya, let him go," I gasped, placing my hand on her wrist.
She looked at me then let him go with a sigh. "Malak," she said in a softer tone now. "It's fine. I promise," I whispered, helping the man up as he coughed and fell to his knees. "I'm sorry. I didn't know-" he panicked with a strain on his voice.
I shushed him and placed my hand on his shoulder. "You haven't done anything wrong. You were just irritated and let it control your actions," I mumbled, seeing that he has done something way deeper than what he has told me. I see regret and pain living through him.
"You're forgiven," I whispered, leaning down and placed a kiss on his forehead. He took a sharp inhale then began to break out in a sweat. "Is he okay?" I asked Zariya. "I really do not know but he was a demon. I'm not so sure about that now," she mumbled, squinting her eyes.
Strong arms around my waist made me look up and see Zagan glaring at Zariya. "My office. Now," he demanded then guided us to the elevator. "Zagan, before you go off, I-" Zariya began to say but Zagan quickly silenced her.
The doors opened and we were led to a very big office. "Wow," I whispered, looking over the large city. "Take a seat, angel," he mumbled, making me look at him and see the anger.
It was mainly towards me also. "Did I do something wrong?" I asked, watching him look up at Zariya and wave his hand. "Zagan, I'm telling that you need to-" she tried to say again but he snapped his eyes to her.
"Zariya, get the fuck out!" He shouts, taking me completely by surprise. She looked at me then back at Zagan. "I'm trying to save your dumb ass but go ahead. You gon' be looking like a dumbass by the time..." she ranted while leaving the room.
I turned back to Zagan, seeing him flare his nose. "Malak, why did I see you kiss another man?" He asked. "He felt bad, and I saw that he had guilt and regret with him. I forgave him," I explained. "Malak! He used you and you're so naive to let him. Who knows what these other demons will try to do to you?" He said, grabbing my arms.
"Zagan, it was for his sins. You're hurting my arms," I quickly explained. I could hear scratching at the door, letting me know that Diego is trying to get to me. "Sin," he laughed. "So forgiving someone for their sins requires you to them kiss them?" He asked, raising his voice every time he speaks.
I felt tears slowly slide down my face as he continues to shout and yell at me. "You have... other people," I whispered. "What?" He snapped. "You have other people, Zagan," I cry, wiping my tears away.
"What are you getting at, Malak?" He sighs, rubbing his temples in frustration. I stood up, seeing that I am making him feel worse. "He told me that you have 'hoes', Zagan. You don't want men to look at me the way you do but you let women touch you the way I'm supposed to," I sniffled, seeing him clench his jaw.
"Malak," he said in a softer tone. "It's alright. I- you're forgiven," I whispered then walked out of his office. Diego let out a whine, allowing me to pick him up, feeling him lick my tears away. "I will be okay, friend," I smiled.
Zariya let out a sigh and grabbed my hand. "I know where to take you. Come on," she said as we got back on the elevator. I leaned against the wall, glad to have Diego right now. "Have you ever had an ice cream cone?" She asked me, making me look at her and shake my head.
She gave me a large smile and squeezed my hand. "You're in for a treat! Come on," she said as soon as the doors opened. I let out a laugh as I try to keep up with her. Even though we're getting a sweet treat, I still feel- I don't know what this is. It's like the feeling of when I thought I lost Diego.
