Chapter 23 : Battle of the smartest

Me and Karina are in our class now, today is her turn to participate in the Mathematics competition, i pat her back to calm her down cause she's so nervous right now, not only because she's worry for her competition, but also she's worry about how to face Jake after what she did yesterday with him.

I told her that everything is okay but she's still not stop feeling guilty, then i suddenly remembered what Jake said to Jeno last night, he said that he's Karina's boyfriend, so i think he already accepted her confession, although i'm not sure about it.

She then turned to me and said,

"You know who's my opponent who'll go against me today in the competition ?"

I just shook my head, then she sighed and continued,

"It's......Renjun."

Then she stopped for a bit before she said,

"It's not that i feel awkward with him, but i still haven't comfortable with him yet....like....you know.....it's been a long time since we talked to each other."

I understand, they used to have a lot of misunderstandings and now they're going against each other, only one can win in this battle, they're both very intelligent, so.....

'This is the battle between the smartest.'

NingNing finally came and sat down on her chair, she then looked at Karina and said,

"What's wrong with you ?"

But Karina didn't answer her, she just sighed and stared outside the window, but then NingNing said,

"Hey, i have to tell you guys that my date with Chenle is wonderful, but.....except for something......"

She lowered her voice on the last part, she looks a bit sad, then i asked her,

"Hey, is there......anything ?"

She then told us what happened during her date with Chenle the day before,

"We were having a date at the mall before Karina's birthday cause Chenle said he wanted to buy Karina a gift, everything is fine when we're shopping, but then....."

She stopped for a while before she continued,

"There's a girl called Chaeryoung or something i don't know, she suddenly approached us and asked him a lot of things, she said she's Chenle's friend so she joined us to buy a gift for Karina."

She seems to cry so Karina pat her back to calm her down, then she continued,

"I know it just normal, but it's not like what you think, i feel uncomfortable with her, you know....it's our date and i want only two of us."

I understand her, it's normal for you to feel uncomfortable when someone else interrupted your date with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

But then Karina said,

"Yeah.....but she just wanted to help, she's not something like what you're thinking."

I said,

"Do you think that she's.....trying to get on between the two of you ?"

NingNing suddenly said,

"Exactly....what if she's also one of Ryujin's friends who's trying to steal Chenle away from me ?"

She's getting panicked, Karina said to calm her down,

"That's not gonna happen so don't overthinking."
