Starclaw's POV

"Ugh, when are we going to be done? I'm one of the best diggers in the village, and you're making me do digging exercises? I already got to the bone, and I found water beyond that ." Starclaw said, annoyed about almost everything. She has been doing this for a while.

"Look, I know you don't like pt—" Sage started.

"What the heck is 'pt?'"

"It stands for physical therapy. And like I was saying. I know you don't like pt, but it does help patients get better, healthier and stronger."

"Yeah, but with digging? I don't think digging is the best type of physical therapy for me. I am pretty good with it but still," Starclaw argued. Sage looked skeptically at her.

"Have you tried digging at all with your front paws?"
"No, but I'm just getting some extra strength before I start." Starclaw said, letting her eyes lead to her paws.

"Well, I think you have given it enough time to have strength, so go on, show me what you can do." She said, gesturing to the soft grass outside the infirmary.

Starclaw sighed and started painstakingly scratching at the grass, wincing every time her paw touched the ground. She whimpered as her paw snagged on a rock.

"It's okay. You can stop now if it hurts. You have honestly gotten a lot more father than I thought you would on your first day. You either have very high pain tolerance, or you're extremely stubborn."
"Well, it doesn't hurt," Starclaw said stubbornly. "I just snagged it on a small rock, that's all."

"Starclaw, take a break. I don't want you overdoing anything that could set back your recovery. Don't let pride get in the way of your health."

"Alright, fine! But I'm just stopping because you're making me, not because it hurts." Starclaw insisted, heading back inside.

"Alright, whatever you say," Sage said, rolling her eyes in doubt and following her inside.

"Oh, there you guys are! Dear, why aren't you in bed resting that paw? It looks kind of swollen. " Sumeria said, coming into the room from the curtain that hung around the other door. Instead of leading outside, that door led to the "medics only" space.

"I was just taking her out for some pt, mother," Sage said defiantly.

"Well, you shouldn't have done that!" Sumeria yelled so suddenly that she jumped. "Her paw is so swollen, thanks to you! You set back her recovery! Why do I ever let you take care of these things! You only ever mess the patients up more so that it takes them longer to heal!"
Sage opened her mouth to yell something back but looked at Starclaw and quickly shut her mouth. She was covering her ears from all the yelling, trying to stop a migraine from hitting from all the super high voices, which were probably usual yelling to normal wolf ears. Sage instantly recognized her pain and instantly tried to ease it.

"Sorry, Starclaw, it wasn't right to see if you could dig." She must have whispered very quietly because her voice sounded normal. Starclaw lowered her paws to the ground and went over to her bed.

"It's ok Sage, you don't have to worry about me. I have been fighting in the war numerous times and a scratch on the paw isn't a big deal. I wanted to know if I could do it myself anyways. Now, at least, I know I can do it so everything is fine." She said, giving Sage a glint of happiness in her eyes.

Sumeria came over with a small log and a lake water-soaked moss sponge.

"Here, dear, let's see if we can stop the swelling," Sumeria said, propping her paw on the log and setting the sponge on top of it. "Sage, you need to be careful with Starclaw's paw! You already set back her recovery with that green light thing that happened, and I will not have it happen again!"

"Yes, Sumeria," they both said practically in unison.

"Good now, Sage, go help some other patients. Starclaw needs rest for her sister to return from school in just a few minutes."

"Speaking of Moonstone, just how much longer do I have to stay. I don't like to leave my sister's side if I don't have to." Starclaw complained with slight worry in her voice over her sister's absence.

"I honestly don't know how much longer, but if you want it to be soon, then you must be careful." Sumeria said, although Starclaw doubted she would be able to, given to what state she was in at the moment.

Suddenly, she heard a loud thump outside of talons settling onto the dirt. She knew Moonstone had arrived. It was time to recreate the reaction.

I'm sorry that this chapter is so short. I was kind of running out of inspiration but I promise the next chapter will be longer. Comment and vote! <3
