Starclaw's POV
She wished Moonstone was here. She had tried to be brave while her sister had been there. She even urged Moonstone to head to school. But the truth was, she just wanted to go with her and get out of the infirmary with all these wolves looking at her and studying her like she was their newest science project.
"Alright, dear, we need to try something to test something for me, okay?" The medic said. She was pretty annoying, constantly calling Starclaw"dear" like she was some sort of fragile baby trying not to make her cry. She growled in annoyance under her breath.
"Okay, what do we need to do?" She always tried to act more like an adult around her to stop treating her that way, but of course the medic usually just ignored it or said, "why don't we let mommy and daddy handle it okay?"
"I need you to think of what you were thinking about when your Lunar Stone did this to you. I want to see if I can figure out what happened, and that calls for a reenactment."
She shivered as a few flashbacks hit her of the weird purple-black tendrils latching themselves onto her legs and neck, freezing everywhere they touched. The sheer panic when she realized she couldn't move, couldn't scream for help...."Can we maybe wait for Moonstone to be here at least?" She whispered, not caring if she came off as a scared little girl. Whatever had happened had left her on bed rest and broken like a fragile doll needing to be put back together. She didn't want to go through it all again without Moonstone there to help at least. Though of course later if anyone ever asked she would deny it.
Plus, a tiny part of her didn't even trust this wolf, or any other of the wolves that tried to help her. They were all a little too nice and sugary, making her wonder what they were really like outside of the med center. She had never seen a wolf-like that, and it for sure isn't natural. All the wolves she had met when she had gone to fight with the dragons had been more fierce and distant, like they didn't want to get too attached in case she didn't make it. She would rather have a nurse that refused to talk to her than a nurse that wouldn't stop talking to her.
"Very well, I understand if you want someone you love to be there for you." The nurse said, being all sugary and sweet in her very annoying way. "I can send a message for them to pull Moonstone out of school right away."
"No, don't! Can we just wait till she's done with school? I don't want to interrupt her studies in case they are learning something important." She doubted that they were, mostly school helped them out with the war these days and she and Moonstone needed no education on that.
"Oh right, right, of course."
The medic wolf shuffled out of the room again, muttering at her files. She put her head down again and sighed, wishing she could be almost anywhere else.
Why had this happened to her? Did she think of something so bad or powerful that it caused her Lunar Stone to act up? What had she been thinking about? She could hardly even remember. One minute she was just staring off into space then BAM Lunar Stone acting up.
She thought about it for so long she lost track of the hours. Until finally, a voice scared her out of her downward mental spiral.
"Sorry about my mother." Said a voice coming from above her. She yelped in surprise, nearly toppling off her bed before gentle paws steadied her and helped her get comfortable again.
She looked up to see the same wolf she had seen earlier that morning. She had brown fur that kind of looked like tree bark. She had a leaf pendant dangling from her neck. She had no ring around her Lunar Stone, which explains why she had never seen her before. But the weirdest part was that her Lunar Stone glowed green.
"I was born with it, in case you were wondering." The wolf said, catching her glance at her Lunar Stone. "No idea why but at least it gives me the power to heal other wolves if I finally learn to master it. I'm still in training."
She winced a bit from the wolf's loud tone. She guessed to the other wolves she would be talking in a normal tone. But thanks to her Lunar Stone acting so weird, her hearing was extra sensitive.
"Oh, sorry, I forgot that your hearing was sensitive." The wolf said, lowering her tone to a normal voice. Which probably meant she was whispering.
"It's okay. I don't usually have sensitive hearing, but since I woke up from the Lunar Stone, everything has been extra loud."
"That's rough. So anyway, my mother sent me over here to see if I can help your healing process along since her little experiment might set your recovery back.""Wait, what! I've been lying in this bed for days now with her fussing over me, and she suddenly wants to do an experiment on me that sets me back to the beginning!?"
"I guess so. I don't understand my mother's intentions for her healing, but all the wolves who come in here come out healthy again, so I'm guessing she knows what she's doing."
"Well, if she is going to heal me, I would at least like to know her name, so I don't have to keep calling her 'The Nurse.'" She grumbled."Oh! Hasn't she told you yet? I'm sorry, I thought she did. Her name is Sumeria, and I'm Sage."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too. I've never had a patient like you before. I'm so excited to see if I can help you get better because I know it will take pretty long for you to recover on your own. But not while I'm here! I have never seen a wolf with another colored Lunar Stone like me before!"
"Great, I'm so glad that my misery is exciting for you," which was somehow funny because Sage laughed.
"Alright, alright I get it. You're grumpy from being stuck here so long and want to get out of here as soon as you possibly can, correct?"
"Correct," she said without even needing to think about it.
"A patient who knows what she wants. I like that. Now let's get started before we lose any more daylight and I miss lunch again!"
"Okay, so what do I have to do?"
"Nothing much, just try to hold still and not flinch when I start because it will feel a little tingly. Oh! And you might want to close your eyes. You will panic less if you don't see what's happening."With that happy thought, she closed her eyes and braced herself in case it hurt.
"Alright then."She felt Sage lean forward to align her Lunar Stone with her own.
When they touched, a jolt went through her making her open her eyes. A blinding purple and green light filled the room. Suddenly she went weightless, then she crashed into something. Pain shot through her whole body, and she crumpled to the floor. Her ears ringing and her head spinning. Her last thought was, what just happened? Then it all faded to black.
