Moonstone's POV

She heard dragons talking outside the shell of her egg. She listened intently, trying to make out the words.

"It's almost time!" said a raspy female voice, sounding so excited she couldn't help wondering if that was her mother.

"I can't wait," said a deep male voice that sounded a little less excited than the female but passionate all the same.

She heard the sound of talons scraping on the floor as they left the room, and she sat there in silence. Then suddenly, there was a different sound coming from another part of the room. She heard shifting, then felt whatever was beneath her, besides her egg fade, as someone lifted her off the ground. A long time passed, it may have been days, but she couldn't tell. Everything was always dark for her. The journey was long and bumpy until finally, whatever had taken her from her original location stopped moving.

There was a thud as something set her down, then some shuffling as the newcomers left the room. Suddenly the egg tilted and started to roll. She rolled around inside her egg, colliding with the smooth walls like a pinball machine, wondering what was happening. Finally, after probably getting a million bumps and bruises on her soft scales, it stopped.

Something hit her egg, making it rock back and forth. She put out her short, little arms to avoid colliding with any more walls.

She finally decided it was time to get out of this smooth and dark prison. She'd had enough of all this noise and rolling around without being able to see what was going on!

She started pushing and shoving as hard as she could at the smooth walls. Eventually, a crack of light splintered off to her left. It gave her a little jolt of energy as the light touched her scales, giving her a little glimpse of what being free felt like. She was now excited to live in that blissful light.

She worked harder to get out, wanting more of that amazing-feeling light. Finally, there were enough cracks around her that she could fit her tiny claws through one of the small openings and rip it open.

Instantly a furry, massive, wet snout poked her in her face. She let out a little squeak of surprise and shrank back against her shell. She closed her eyes from the searing light and opened them slowly, letting them adjust.

Finally, she got used to the light and was able to look around. She was in an odd room, not just any room, though. The walls were made of dirt and stones packed together. The floor looked like the floor of a forest.

She finally realized the thing poking her was a furry snout. Then she looked past that snout at the two yellow eyes staring at her. Then looked at the other creatures, not quite as close as the other one, but close enough for her to observe them.

They all had fur and tails, with a weird stone embedded in their forehead. She wondered if this was her family. Maybe she looked like them. She looked down at what she expected to be furry paws but instead saw that her "paws" were scaley with sharp claws at the end. She turned around herself like a dog chasing its tail, studying every inch of herself. She wasn't just scaley on her paws. She was scaley everywhere. She wondered if that would make these scary creatures want to eat her any more than they already did.

What made her the most curious was the two pairs of wings sticking out of the middle of her back. They were a light blue, the same color as the rest of her body. The webbing on them was pure white, making her look like the sky.

Suddenly, one of the furry creatures pushed past the one that had poked her when she had first come out of her prison. The creature was draped in diamonds with a crown sitting atop her head.

"Hello, little one." It said in a rough, regal yet gentle voice. "Welcome to your new home."

She wanted to respond but didn't know how to respond in words, so she just let out a little squeak instead—causing little drifts of smoke and fire to come out of her mouth. All the furry creatures jumped back in fear with a growl.

The front wolf looked back at them, "oh, calm down, you fools. She's just a child. All she did was blow a little smoke and look at you all. Cowering like chickens." Then the creature turned back to her and smiled. "I think I'm going to call you Moonstone, and you, my dear, are going to be my new weapon to win this war of eternity.
