It felt like a lifetime since you stood in the middle of the Great Hall and stared blankly at the nearest wall. Only one thought was on your mind.

This wasn't how you imagined the war to end.

A heavy sigh left your lips as you took one last glance at your surroundings. It was really bizarre around you. Some were happily hugging each other, relieved that it was finally over. Some others were grieving over the dead bodies of their beloved ones. There was blood everywhere, broken pieces of glass, shattered buildings, ripped off curtains and everything you could expect from a war. There were tears too. Joyful tears. Sad tears. Lots of it..

But you were paralyzed. You didn't know how to feel or think about what had happened, and the loud noises around you, wasn't helping your situation at all. You just wanted to walk away from the chaos and sit in a corner to have some time for yourself.

Where was Remus? You didn't know. You just wanted to be alone.

Ignoring the searing pain in your left arm, you slowly walked towards a cracked window and peered out to finally find a concrete block at the far side of the courtyard. It was the perfect spot.

With lots of struggles and stumbling down the front stairs, a few minutes passed and you finally settled on the cold block, covering your face with your palms. The voices were much more quiet and muffled now. You almost didn't hear anything at all.

"... Voldemort is dead for good! We did it."

"... But mum, tell my little brother to wake up. He can't be gone.. Come on. You can't do this to us."

"Look at this. Look at what happened to us. I hate the war. I hope it'll never happen again."

Yeah, you hated the war too. You hated all this devastating effects of it. All the lonely nights, dreadful days, horrible news and terrible memories it left. On top of all of that, the fact that just a few hours ago you'd nearly lost the love of your life because of this war, made you hate it even more. You felt that hatred in your bones. It was more than you could ever imagine.

Another heavy sigh escaped you as you sat there and thought about the recent events over and over again. It slowly dawned on you how you actually felt. You were in shock and disbelief. How could Remus do it? How could he even decide that he wanted to sacrifice his life for you? What if that spell had hit him and, and...

No, you didn't even want to imagine what would happen after that.

A life without him? Hell no. That was impossible. Unbearable.
