Lupin's pov

The clock was ticking steadily against the wall as I lay awake, deep in my own thoughts. Sleep seemed foreign to my eyes these past few days, as if I'd never heard such a thing before and it never existed in dictionaries.

Sleep? No definition found.

Struggle? Countless pages of adequate explanation.

I was used to that difference.

Tonight things were a bit more overwhelming than last night and I could do nothing about it. It was always like this, the closer I got to the next full moon, the worse my inner wolf would become.

'It'll pass soon. Calm down, you difficult thing.' I assured myself and ruffled my hair absent-mindedly (just like how she used to do). It was just another sleepless night when my mind was going through the phases of changing. Nothing to be worried about.

At least that's what I was hoping for.

A cool breeze passed through the curtains and drifted around the room, reminding me to let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I just didn't want to make the slightest of sounds and disturb my sleeping beauty. She was tired from the long hard week.

I sighed and gazed up at the enchanted ceiling above me. Above us. It was exactly like the magnificent ceiling of the Great Hall back to Hogwarts. With the help of sparkling stars, comets and countless flickering candles that were hanging around and lighting up the room with their dim orange flames, everything seemed much more beautiful than the sky outside. A small smile appeared to my face when I remembered how she had convinced me to do this. It was a few years after she'd graduated and she was missing Hogwarts terribly. She'd suggested that we should do this and who was I to decline her wonderful offer? Everything that reminded me of her, would have its stunning effect to make me feel better.

Especially everything from that particular day when I saw her for the first time in the said place at Hogwarts...

I let my eyes close for a short while as I imagined her gleaming eyes, careless laughs and beautiful smiles. She would flash me one of those disarming smiles of hers and every single time my whole world would come crashing down in the best way possible.

Oh, how she could melt my heart with her blushed cheeks whenever she caught me staring at her.

She wasn't just a woman, she was an angel.

And luckily, she was mine.

I calmed down as the thoughts crossed my mind, still not daring to move one bit and look at her. I was being overly sensitive about my actions, but it was better this way. I wouldn't be able to stop myself from touching and feeling her warm body if ever let my eyes drift to her delicate figure, especially now that she was in peace.
