Mikey and Kozue had managed to get what they needed from the store before it shut. The whole time the Sano boy couldn't stop thinking about what his gramps said about her father and decided that he would ask her about it just as they arrived home.
He felt uneasy, unsure that it was really the right time to bring up such a heavy subject, he was afraid she may pull back from him if he did.
'I'll never let her push me away.'
"Hey Kou-chin?" He whispered her name hesitantly and she turned to look at him with a hum. "I don't want to upset you but, your father..."
"What about him?" She asked, her guard shooting up suddenly and his eyes widened realising maybe it really wasn't the best idea to bring it up so soon into their friendship. He felt guilt wash over him fast, and he needed to find a way to smooth it out quickly.
"I'm sorry it's just, my gramps mentioned him the other day. The two knew each other."
"Oh, really?" She asked, unsurprised that they would considering her father had fought over here and that was probably how they met. Though it was still interesting to hear that their families were connected in one way or another. She wondered what kind of stories Mikey's grandfather might have about her old man.
"He said he was... murdered." Mikey said cautiously, and when his dark eyes met her steel ones, he wasn't surprised to see the saddened look on her face.
"Sano~"
She's hesitant, he can see the hurt in her eyes, and he hated it, hated that he made her feel that. He just wanted to hold her and comfort her in any way possible.
"Ah you guys are finally back!" Ikeda's voice interrupted them, and Mikey looked to him with obvious annoyance.
'Thanks for ruining our conversation asshole.'
"Come on Kingston-san, let's go inside." Ikeda chimed as he went to grab the Kingston girls hand, but before she could even pull her arm away as she usually did when someone tried to touch her, Mikey stepped in smacking his hand away as he stood defensively in front of her.
"Don't touch her." He seethed.
"Jeez calm down, you touched her before too you know. Dragged her off like a damn doll." Ikeda taunted, and the blonde boy gritted his teeth in annoyance. He had no patience for this scrawny little punk.
"That's different, we're actually friends." He taunted back, but Ikeda didn't seem to back down, even to the 'invincible' Mikey.
"So are we."
"Since when? I've never seen you two together before?" Mikey's gaze darkened.
"Guys-" Kozue said as she frowned feeling their argument getting heated, hostility coming from both of them, but they didn't seem to notice. She knew it was going to get out of hand soon, and she also knew exactly who would come out victorious.
