~One Year Later~

Just over a year had passed since Kozue died, and Mikey was no longer the same as he once was.

He official disbanded the Tokyo Manji Gang a couple of weeks after he lost her, and it had come as a shock to everyone, though most of the members still kept in regular contact. They made the effort because even though Toman no longer existed, it didn't mean their bonds just vanished.

Everyone was moving forward with their lives, but the Sano boy couldn't, he didn't know how it was possible.

His heart couldn't recover from losing her.

He blamed himself for everything. Had he not interfered like she asked, maybe things would've been different. He had thought of a million different scenarios, options he could have taken to prevent it, but it was utterly useless.

He couldn't change the past, nothing could bring her back. His mistakes couldn't simply be reversed.

"It's never been more important for you to listen to me right now and to not fight them no matter what."

Every time those words rung in his head, it killed him. His heart clenched with utter pain and all he felt like doing was breaking down.

Why did he do what he did? Why didn't he just listen to her?

~FLASHBACK~

"Dead? Wh... what the hell do you mean dead Ken-chin?" Mikey exasperated as he stood frozen, glued to his spot.

"Kozue is dead, Mikey – gone. She's never coming back." The tatted male said with a shaky voice, his tears still dripping down his face even though he was trying to stay calm. Mikey couldn't comprehend the words he was hearing, there was no way, no way...

"How is this possible? It... it's a joke, right? a sick joke? There's no way that's true!"

Draken could see the emotions running through his best friend, the way he was desperately trying to find any sort of tell that what he was hearing was a misunderstanding, a lie, and it broke him.

"Its going through the grapevine Mikey, every gang has heard about it. Apparently, she tried to take on the Violent Crowd alone, but she..."

"She what?"

"They say she was shot six times before they dumped her body."

Mikeys entire body went rigid, his blood turned to ice, and he was certain he would never thaw. He couldn't believe it. She was gone just like that. A person like her, someone as precious as her, did not get to go out like that, she didn't deserve that.

Shot six times? He didn't want to imagine it, but his mind was such a dark place that those images flashed through him and he felt like he was going to crumble to dust.
