Mikey made his way to Mizushima Café, alone.
He knew that Kozue wasn't going to be there because Emma had forced her out to go shopping.
'Sorry Kou-chin.'
He was taking the opportunity to go and talk to her mother about something rather important, though he had gone off on a few tangents since arriving.
"So anyway..." Mikey sighed happily, cutting off his rant about the girl before grinning brightly at Mrs Kingston. "I wanted to know when Kou-chins birthday is?"
Kiyoko was amused by the charming blonde boy. The way he spoke of her daughter with such detail, care and excitement was as if he worshiped the ground she walked on, and she couldn't help but feel giddy for her daughter. All she wanted was for Kozue to be happy, and she already knew that Mikey was the one for her.
"Sorry Mikey, but Kozue's birthday was a while ago." The dark haired woman revealed, and his face dropped in horror
"H- how long ago?" He asked afraid to hear the answer, and when she told him it was only a few weeks, he sweat dropped.
'But we've been friends for months?!'
"She never told me?! Oh god, I- I'm the worst!" He exasperated and Kiyoko couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.
"She never tells anyone." She said patting his head, and the blonde felt his shoulders deflate. He felt like a terrible friend for not knowing.
"Aw don't feel so disheartened." She tried to reassure him, but he still felt bitter about it.
"Is there something she needs or something I can get her?" He asked hopefully and Kiyoko sighed leaning against the bench.
"Kozue doesn't like people spending money on her, but she can be rather sentimental even if she won't admit it. If you were to do something meaningful for her or get her something with meaning, I'm sure she would be happy." Kiyoko said and Mikey's eyes lit up as he thought of something.
"Right! Thank you, Mrs Kingston!"

Kozue's father's birthday was approaching, and so her mother had arranged for them to fly over to America to visit his grave.
She hadn't been back since moving to Japan, but she found that she wasn't as desperate to get back as she originally thought she would be.
When they first moved to Japan, all she could think about was how much she would miss America and struggle to adapt, but now she found she didn't want to leave. She had made friends for the first time in years, but most importantly.
She had found Mikey.
The blonde had become such a normal part of her everyday life, that she couldn't imagine not seeing him every day. She wondered how he was going to react when she told him she would be leaving for a couple of weeks.
