Chapter 30

~ Secrecy ~

BEATRIZ

I woke up with a huge smile on my face. I stared at the ceiling for a little while since I wanted to reminisce the events yesterday. My thoughts were interrupted when I remembered to check my phone since I fell asleep without checking it last night.

My smile got wider when I saw Jhoana's name and her message.

From: Jhoana

Good night, bud! Eat your breakfast before you drive tomorrow ha. Ingat!

I squeaked like a little girl and hugged my phone tightly. God I'm so lucky.

After showering and preparing my things for today, I decided to skip breakfast with my family and drove straight to Jho's apartment after stopping at Army Navy to buy breakfast. My heart is literally filled with joy and good vibes, I don't want that to be ruined just by interacting with my dad.

I arrived earlier than expected kaya naabutan ko rin ang nanay ni Jho.

"Oh, Beatriz, you're early. Dito ka ba mag b-breakfast?" Tita Lovel said as I immediately leaned in for a beso. "Hindi pa naman ako nakapagluto nag mamadali rin kasi ako para sa trabaho." She welcomed me inside while trying to fix the dining table beside the sofa.

"Ay tita it's okay I actually brought breakfast for Jho and I. And para sainyo rin po."  Tita Lovel smiled warmly when I handed her the paper bag.

"You're too sweet, Beatriz. Thank you so much for this." She gathered her things and keys and made her way to the door. "Pakisabi nalang kay Jhoana nakaalis na ako. She's upstairs tulog pa ata but you can wake her up if you want."

I thanked tita Lovel one last time and made my way in Jho's room.  I knocked on the door for a few times but after several times of trying, I twisted the knob already since it wasn't locked.

"Jho?" I softly called but there she was, still in her deep sleep. I entered the room and didn't bother to turn on the light since she has a lamp on her bedside table and I didn't want to wake her up that way.

I roamed my eyes in her room and saw tons of designs at her study table. I fixed her pens and her other materials for school so she wouldn't have a hard time when she wakes up later. Just when I was about to close and pack her laptop in her bag, the wallpaper flashed on the screen. It was a photo of her family smiling which looked like it was taken abroad.

I smiled as I observed their faces. They all looked so happy together.

I was supposed to continue packing her things when my eyes suddenly landed on Jho's father. I've seen their family photos downstairs but now was the only time I had the opportunity to look at him closely.

Why does he look really familiar?

"AAAAAHHH!"

A high pitched scream echoed in the room.

I quickly turned around but I suddenly felt a hard object hit my face. When it dropped on the floor I realized it was a bottled water.

"Ouch!" I screamed and ran towards the light switch revealing a shocked Jhoana who's about to throw her lamp at me. Her eyes widened and her face pure of confusion.

"What the hell? Beatriz!" Binaba niya naman agad yung hawak niya and removed the blanket wrapped around her. "Anong ginagawa mo dito?"

"Sinusundo ka duh?" Irita ko ring sabi. I rubbed the part of my face that she hit.

"I meant inside my room!"

"Tita Lovel said I can go up daw eh. She really likes me noh." Mayabang kong sabi habang iniirapan niya ako. "Why did you throw your bottled water at me ba? Ang sakit sakit oh." I pouted.
