Chapter 7

~ Windbreaker ~

JHOANA

"Wake up, Jhow. Maaga pasok mo today diba?" Jia said while slightly tapping my cheeks. When she saw me moving she finally stood up and started tying her hair in a neat ponytail.

I opened my eyes slightly and rubbed them. I sat down and felt Maddie enter the room and sat beside me. I suddenly saw that they were in their gym clothes. I looked at Jia and she was already tying her shoes ready to leave.

"Wala ba kayong pasok?" Umiling naman ang dalawa. "Where are you guys going?"

"Takbo lang diyan sa malapit, mamaya pa class namin, Jho." I saw Jia taking her keys as Maddie followed behind her.

"Hey, I thought hahatid niyo ako sa class kaya pumayag akong mag puyat kagabi!" Sigaw ko habang hindi parin tumatayo sa kama.

"May mag hahatid sayo, don't worry." The both of them started laughing while waving good bye. Maddie quickly shut the door and rushed outside of the unit.

Naisip ko na pinag t-tripan nanaman ako ng mga 'to. Naisahan akong makipag sabayan sa puyatan kagabi hindi naman pala ako ihahatid. Napabuntong hininga nalang ako ng malalim at tinignan ang oras sa aking phone.

My class starts in about two hours and as of now it's just 5:30 in the morning. I noticed one message that was unopened. It was sent a few minutes before I went to sleep.

From: Nico

Good morning, Jho! I know you'll probably see this in the morning but I just want to ask if you want to join me for breakfast later? Free cut kasi ako eh.

I suddenly started to panic. Si Nico ata yung sinasabing sundo ko.

I hurriedly got out of bed and ran outside to get ready since I forgot to put my clothes inside Jia's room last night.  I stopped fixing my stuff when the sound of the door bell errupted inside the condo unit.

I can't let Nico to see me like this.

I looked down and took a peek of myself in the mirror. I looked horrible. I tied my hair in a quick ponytail and grabbed a random pair of shorts since I was only wearing my oversized shirt. I glanced at the mirror, ayan at least I kind of looked a little more decent.

The door bell rang for the second time and so I ran to open it. But instead of Nico, I was greeted by Bea's tall frame leaning on the wall, she was so busy with her phone that she didn't even notice I was already in front of her.

"Bea?" I asked, confusion probably very evident not only from my face but also from my voice.

The latter looked up and smiled. She rolled her eyes and let herself in. Bea sat on the couch and continue to look at her phone.

"My gosh, Jhoana. I thought you were never going to open up." She casually said. "Why do you look so surprised? Were you expecting someone else?"

"Akala ko kasi si Nico ka." I blurted out. I saw Bea's forehead creased.

"You have plans ba?" Mabilis niyang tanong.

I shook my head and confusingly looked at her. "No, naman he inivited me for breakfast but I haven't answered yet--"

"Good. Nauna ako mag text at nauna ako dito so..." Bea comfortable lied down on the couch. "Tell him na ako na mag hahatid sayo."

"Uhm.. okay?" Patanong kong sagot. "Bakit ba kasi ang aga aga nandito ka na? Miss mo ko agad?" I asked while continuing to finish fixing my remaining stuff from my bag.
