Hailee's POV

"Should I answer?" Y/N asks.

"I suppose, what if it's something important?"

"Hello?"

"Oh hey! What's up?"

"Tonight? Can it wait, we're just busy this evening. You know, just hoping to take it easy for Haiz."

"Alright, we'll be there in a bit."

"Talk to you soon." And with that she hangs up the phone.

"That was Sherry. She wanted me to debut my first ever song on national TV, so she got Megan to book us with James Cordon on the Late Late Show. The catch is they happen to film tonight."

"Can't you push it back to tomorrow?" She shakes her head.

"I tried. This is a last minute thing. He happened to have a slot in tonight's show. I guess somebody else called in sick." I sigh, but nod in understanding.

"Sounds good, I guess."

"I'm sorry about the this, and thank you for helping me." She says, and gives me a small hug.

Our phones remained silent for the next few hours. The next news we received was that Daneliya had made it through surgery and would be on her way back shortly. Suddenly, the sound of a stretcher being wheeled wafted through the air.

"Daneliya! How are you doing?" I ask as soon as I saw her.

"Hailee! You've kept your promise. You're still here!" She says, her eyes shining at us, a large smile further lighting up her face.

"Of course I have. We couldn't just leave you." I say.

"I'm just going to get her into bed now, okay?" The nurse says.

"Can we help?" I ask.

"If you don't mind. Hailee, I'll get you to join me on this side, where her injured leg is. Y/N, I'll get you on the opposite side to help us push." We get in to our assigned positions and Lauren also thoughtfully adds a pillow under her legs as well.

"Grab on to the sheets and the blue pad and we'll pull on my signal." Lauren counts down slowly and we bring Daneliya in to the bed from the stretcher in one jerky motion.

"Excellent Daneliya. I'll get you some pain medications shortly. If you look here, the large laceration on her leg was sown up and there's now a bandage covering it. Her ankle was also repaired and set in place with cast over top to keep in place for healing." Lauren explains.

"Thank you."

"Of course, I must excuse myself. I have to speak with the recovery room nurse for a transfer of care." She says before heading out. I turn to face Daneliya, happy to see she was doing well.

"So what happens now?" Daneliya asks.

"I'm not sure. One thing is for sure, I'm not letting you go back to that place without a fight."

"Where would I go then?" As if on cue, my phone starts to ring.

"Hello?"

"Hailee, it's Dan. I've spoken it over with your publicist. And we wanted to hear from you first. We both trust your opinion on this matter. The main concern is how do you plan to manage this child's care with your schedule?"

"She'll have to be home schooled in conjunction with online classes and lessons. During those times when neither Y/N or I are available, we'll have one of our trusted staff look after her. As for the time we are with her, we'll make sure to make the most of every moment and to cherish her."
