Meagan's POV
Y/N's face turns to an ashen gray and her breathing quickens.
"How long?"
"24 hours at most is what the doctor told me." Her mother replies solemnly. I could see Y/N's knees starting to buckle so I quickly pull up a chair for her to sit on.
"Sweet heart, it's been a joy seeing you grow up from when you were a tiny baby to what you've become now. I want you to know that you've made me so proud and I know you will continue to make me proud. Don't give up on your dreams Y/N. I love you so much."
"Mother! Stay with me!" Y/N wails.
"You know better than anyone I would if I could." Mrs. Y/LN says, struggling to hold back her tears.
"This is world is so unfair! Why take her away?" Y/N asks. I gently take her hand in mine in an attempt to comfort her.
"Meagan, please take good care of my baby for me."
"I promise Mrs. Y/LN. I won't let you down." She nods and lets out a cough. Suddenly her eyes began to droop and she began to go limp. Without thinking, I quickly pull the red emergency cord situated next to the bed. A parade of nurses plus a physician come flying over and usher Y/N and I out of the room. For the next few minutes they work on Mrs. Y/LN until one of the nurses emerges from the room.
"Y/N? Please come with me." She says. Both Y/N and I walk towards her.
"I'm very sorry miss. Only family may enter at this time." The nurse says.
"It's o-okay. She can come w-with m-me." The nurse nods and motions for me to continue. Inside, Mrs. Y/LN was laying motionless on her bed hooked to up a fancy machine surrounded by a couple of nurses and a physician.
"Y/N, your mother is very sick. Her cancer has spread through her entire body and her vital organs are shutting down. As of right now, we have her on life support but it's only a matter of time before her brain dies. When that happens, we need your permission to pull the plug." The doctor somberly states.
"NO! YOU CAN'T PULL THE PLUG!" Y/N yells.
"Y/N, I'm really sorry about all of this. I know it must be hard for you, especially at such a young age." The doctor says as Y/N begins to sob uncontrollably in to my chest.
"Hey superstar, try to think of she would want. Take your time." I say, rubbing her back slowly.
"I know Meg, it just hurts so bad. She's the only family I have and my biggest supporter. It's hard for me to get past the fact that she will never see me become what she hoped I would become."
"She'll see you, just from up there and she will be so proud to see her daughter become a superstar and more importantly, be happy."
"Thank you Meg, you're the best friend one could ask for." She says, hugging me tightly before turning to face the physician.
