Chapter 27

Reunited

A few minutes after that, we went back to my brother's hospital room. Sa takot ko, hindi ko kinayang lumapit kahit man lang sa pintuan. Levi had to go inside and tell my parents we're going back.

We were silent as we go back to our hotel. He didn't initiate a conversation, which I was thankful for. I'm not in the mood to actually talk. I just want to go back to my room and sleep.

When we reached the hotel, he insisted on walking me to our room. It's 10 past 1 so I think the girls are no longer here. Hindi pa kame nagllunch na dalawa pero wala akong ganang kumain.

"Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" he asked, his voice full of concern as he stood in front of our room's door.

I gave him a tired smile. "I am. I'm just gonna sleep this away. Don't worry."

Magsasalita na sana siya kaso inunuhan ko na. "And also, you can enjoy the University Meet with your friends. Baka magtampo na sina Uno sa akin niyan."

He pouted, "But I like spending time with you!"

I rolled my eyes, "I'm gonna spend some time with my friends, too. Sige na, I'm beat. I'll rest na."

Bago ko pa masarado ng maayos ang pintuan eh napigilan niya pa ito. "If you need someone to talk to, I'm just a call away."

He waved at me before walking towards the elevator. Sinarado ko na ang pintuan at ni-lock ito.

What am I even doing with my life? My brother was fighting for his life and here I am, thinking of my feelings for Levi.

Who would've thought I'd end up liking him? Kasalanan 'to nina Tate, eh. They've been feeding me ideas!

I sighed. It's okay, Carly. Feelings won't grow if you won't feed them. So the best thing to do is to keep my distance from Levi.

God, if only that's possible.

At around 3 PM, I woke up from my nap because someone's banging my door. I opened it begrudgingly.

"Carly, we've been knocking for 15 minutes!" bungad ni Iris sa akin.

"You're not even knocking, you're banging the door. And we've only been here for 2 minutes, ang OA mo," si Tippy.

"2 minutes, 15 minutes, what does it matter? We've waited too long!"

Inikot ko na lang ang mga mata ko habang nag-aaway 'yung dalawa. I learned my lesson. Mas mabuti pang hayaan ko silang magkasagutan kaysa pigilan silang dalawa.

Pumasok na ako sa banyo para maligo ulit. Dinalian ko nga lang dahil kakapasok ko pa lang eh kumakatok na si Iris. Dapat siya talaga ang tinatawag na kamahalan ni Tate, eh. Hindi ako.

"Andoon na ba si Tate?" tanong ko habang nag-aayos.

"Kanina pa. Nagpalit sila ng tasking ni Jen kasi nga baka distracted daw siya mamaya sa game," sagot ni Tippy.

"Very girlfriend material," kumento ko. Bakit kasi hindi niya na lang jowain 'yung best friend niya mukha namang mabait yun kahit madalas mukhang mangangagat.

Pagkatapos kong mag-ayos at dumada si Iris, bumaba na kami sa lobby. Akala ko nga mag-Grab na lang kami papuntang De Valle pero nalimutan kong may driver nga pala si Iris.

Pagdating namin sa univ, nasa gitna ako ng dalawa. Nakaangkla pa dahil baka raw may biglang humablot sa akin. As if naman may gustong lumapit sa amin eh aura pa lang ni Iris parang mangangain na ng tao.

"This school is quite big, noh? May mga events ba sila usually kapag District Meet? Like mga booths or escape room?" Iris questioned.

"Madalas, oo. But usually 'yung mga fun games kapag last day of the competition na until weekends."
