"Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

Y/n stopped getting dressed, mid way of her zipping up her suit. The top half of her chest was on display and Beast Boy tried hard to get his gaze off of it. Smirking at the sight. She noticed and only rolled her eyes, zipping up the rest of the way. "Yes, now do you have to doubt me minutes before I go on the mission?" She threw her dirty shirt at him and he caught it.

He played with the sleeves of the fabric. It was her athletic shirt she used when she worked out. Oh he knew it was really dirty and the sweat stench on it was very potent. However, he was prompted to hold on to it tighter. "You know it's dangerous."

"Yep."

"I will be waiting for you."

"I am aware of that happening."

"What if you don't come back?"

"I will."

"Y/n?"

"Yes," she said, smiling as she finally looked at him. His eyes were darting everywhere, a warm green tinted on his cheeks.

He wanted to ask the question but then he held it off. He asked another question instead. "In ten years if we were still together, would you say yes if I proposed then?"

She clasped her utility belt around her waist as she thought about the question. "Isn't ten years too long? We are nineteen, you want to wait until we are twenty-nine?"

"Five?"

She put on her shoes, nodding at him. "Twenty-four? Yeah, I would say yes. Now, what do you really want to ask me? I know you're stalling." After feeling if the boots were comfortable, she looked around her room for her mask. Usually, it would be kept in her utility belt but she had to wash it as it was covered in makeup. That was what happened when you were at an event but then crime happens. Now it was misplaced after it got washed. It did not help that the green teen kept their room messy.

She began looking in the closet and her back was facing Beast Boy. He took it as his opportunity to ask her.
"...do- do you really think you will make out of this mission alive?" She paused in her actions. Most days, her boyfriend would be supportive and had so much confidence that she would come back with the least injuries. This time, Nightwing explaining the mission gave the morphing teen shivers down his back. "I want you to come back, but things DG was saying got me on edge. I'm worried."

She was worried too. It seemed like a lot. Nonetheless, she never backed down from a challenge.
"Pft, I will be fine. I will be with the Justice League. Now, pick out a ring for your future proposal. I would love an emerald crystal." He kept note of it.

She gave him a small kiss and then left with a grin on her face.

•••••

Beast Boy was found at the top of the empire state building. When he told the team that he wanted to do sight seeing this wasn't what they had in mind.
He sat while people surrounded him, wondering what he was doing so close to the edge. They screamed, afraid for him. He wasn't sure why they cared about his life more than he did. He clutched onto the ring he recently bought. In her ring size, with the emerald gem she wanted. Money he got given to by Tim. He played with it, made his hand smaller so it would fit on his fingers. It was as if her as a being, her presence was formed into a ring. He would know and she would agree. Luckily for the news, Cyborg was able to find him. He flew up with his built in jet pack and tried to talk to his best friend. Or talk some type of sense into him.

"Buddy, don't you do it!" Cyborg says calling out after him.

"Why does it matter?! Everyone I know is dead!" The tears on his cheek were dried but more came.

"You don't know that! It has been two months. They are all on that mission, not only Y/n!"

"It was supposed to be for three weeks!"

"We are trying our hardest to radio to them but they are far into the galaxy. Right now the earth doesn't have a Justice League, it doesn't have a Nightwing and nor does it have Y/n. We have to be the heroes until they return."

If they ever do.
But those words were whispered in the air and never shared between them. Scared either of them were going to jinx it. They wanted them to come back more than anything.

There was a deafening silence, except for the sirens and the people screaming below them. Beast Boy suddenly wanted to test out the penny theory.
He thought about his girlfriend again and asked his buddy a question.
"How certain are you that they are alive?"

A sigh. There was nothing good about a sigh. His sullen look was shared with the green teen.
"As of today: sixty-one percent. It's a good percent to hold on to."

"You better be right, Cy," he begged, the numbers printed in his head. The tears came back with the feeling of stinging in his eyes, his throat dried up and he could only whimper. With a slight voice crack he begged, "Please be right."

Because without Y/n there would forever be a void in his heart.

Without the Justice League there would be an aching feeling for the rest of the world.
