"We're getting good at that." Walter said, his head hitting the pillow. I let out a breathless laugh as I stood up from the bed. His eyes never left my naked, sweaty body as I picked up my long, dark blue skirt from the floor and stepped into it. The beads on the hem made a jingle noise as I tightened the drawstrings on it.
Walter groaned, rolling over to his side for a moment before he pushed himself off the bed. He took a minute to gaze at the ruined sheets. Several damp areas spotted the red sheets. I picked my cropped shirt up from the ground, pulling it over my head. I snatched my necklaces from the bedside table and slipped them over my head. Walter smiled at them.
I walked over to the other side of the room, where a blood red chaise lounge chair sat. I perched myself on it, feeling an ache in my leg which I knew would interfere with my later customers. "How much then boss?" He asked, now fully clothed and reaching into his back pocket.
I glanced up at the clock hanging over the door before saying, "100 coins for the hour." He nodded before placing 100 coins into my outstretched hand. I counted the money while he stood rambling about our time.
"You got anyone else today?" He asked just as he was about to leave the room.
I looked up from the money, "Got my Thursday usual in about an hour then I'm on the floor for the rest of the night so maybe someone will take me up to a room." I shrugged before adding on, "If im unlucky enough."
He stood by the door, just watching me, "You leaving?" I asked him, a smile spread across my face. Walter was one of my more... favourable clients. He didn't make me do anything too weird. He didn't get off seeing me hurt or humiliated. He was a sweet guy, I always wondered why he bothered coming to the brothel when he could surely find a nice girl anywhere else.
"Sadly, I have to leave." He dramatically placed his hand on his forehead like he was about to faint, "Maggie wants help with a job."
"You two made up then?" I asked, leaning back into the chair.
He let out a sharp breath, "Barely. Mags is... frustrated, that's all."
I grinned, "Well send her my way, I'll work out that stress."
He laughed again before saying, "I'll consider it." And with that, he left the red room.
I listened to his footsteps as he travelled downstairs. I ran my free hand through my very tangled hair. Fuck. Another thing I have to do. I stood up and walked over to the wooden vanity that was leaning against the wall. I opened the small drawer and pulled out a small drawstring bag before shoving the coins into it. I've made 300 coins so far- which isn't enough. I stood there, calculating in my head before I was interrupted.
"You good?" A voice said behind me. I spun around, hiding the small bag behind my back. It was just the cleaning lady.
I breathed a sigh of relief, "Agatha, you scared me." I placed a hand to my heart. She smiled at me. Agatha was a frail woman, standing in a 5'1. She was around 80 years old and still standing. From my conversations with her, I gathered she used to be a brothel worker when she was younger but abandoned it all when the IMC invaded Salvo.
"You look a mess love." She said while moving towards the bed. She pulled a cotton bag from her trolley and began stripping the sheets.
"Mmm, Walter again."
"FitzRoy?" She asked.
"Don't tell anyone I told you that" I pointed my finger at her and she waved her wrinkled hand at me dismissively.
"I won't, I won't. He's a good-looking man. He's good to you?"
"Better than some of the ones I've had." She smiled again.
