Sharing a bed with Maggie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. She came to bed after me because she wanted to ask Walter about the Bone Cage match I forced her to miss. I was almost asleep when I felt her climb in from the bottom of the bed. I tried my best not to move or even look at her. She collapsed down and shoved her back against the wall.

I stayed on the edge of the bed, my body turned away from her. I began to drift off when I felt something warm on my back. I quickly spun around. She was wide awake, her hand was in the middle of the bed. I stared at her, she didn't say anything.

"What was that" I asked her.

She sucked her teeth before replying, "I thought I saw something on your back."

"Ah." I spoke. A moment of silence passed. She just kept... staring at me. It was slightly unsettling. "Someone hit me with their belt." I shrugged like it was normal, "Its fine, it's healing. I'm surprised you saw it at all."

"I saw it today, but I didn't want to ask in case it was a domestic or something."

"Mags if I was in a domestic, I wouldn't be here right now." She smiled and closed her eyes, "This... isn't weird right?" I asked her.

"Only weird if you make it weird." She quoted me. I rolled my eyes and turned so I was on my back staring up at the ceiling. "There's a meeting with the Cracked Talons tomorrow... Wally and I, we have to be there but we... I'm not ok with you being there."

"Why?" I defensively asked, turning on my side so I was facing her.

"Because its pissing dangerous! I don't want them to think your apart of this."

"So... you want me to stay here? Alone?" I asked her. "What's stopping me from just going to work?" I couldn't make out her facial expressions, but I knew she was annoyed.

"Common sense." She sternly said, "But yeah, I want you to stay here. Its early in the morning so I'm hoping you'll sleep through it."

"You're making me feel like a toddler."

"You act like one." She said before closing her eyes again. I reached over and gently slapped her cheek. "You see." Her eyes shot open, "Acting like a toddler." I went to speak but she shushed me, "Don't start. I don't wanna get another ear-full off Walt again."

"He shouted at you?" I asked her, I had to bite back a laugh, "Who's the toddler now?" She shoved me and I giggled.

"Shh." She said, holding a finger to her lips. I copied her and she sighed. "Go to sleep." She commanded, gripping the covers and pulling them up to her eyes. I stared at her for a few more seconds before rolling over and closing my eyes.

I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. Maggie wasn't there, for a second, I was scared. For a second, I wanted to get up and ransack the whole apartment to find her. But then, I remembered our conversation from last night.

I sighed and rolled onto my back before turning my head and glancing at the clock. 9am. She said their meeting was early... but what would she define as early? I ran my hand along my face, what was I doing? Why was I so stressed over this? Even if Maggie was hurt or in danger, what could I do? Nothing. I couldn't even shoot a shotgun without falling on my ass. I threw the covers off me and got out of bed- I didn't want to just sit there and wait for her to come back.

I wandered into the kitchen, my eyes still stale from sleep. I saw a cup on the side. The bottom half of it was gold, the top half was white with green leaves flowing across it. I examined it, it looked new. I shrugged and placed it back down, grabbing a plain cup from the cupboard and flicking on the kettle. I dawdled around a bit, grabbing the milk from the fridge, refiling the sugar pot. I sucked my teeth. This was going to be a boring morning.
