I discharged Maggie two days after she 'asked me out' on a 'date' and ever since, she's been avoiding me like the plague. At the apartment, she will just... watch me. Watch as I eat or sit about or get work done. Once we're in bed, I try to ask her about it, but she just shushes me... This has been going on for nearly a week.

Eventually, I wised up and questioned Walter about it who stupidly claimed he had "no idea" and walked away from me. This was very weird.

Maggie finally broke the silence after she and Walter came back from a job. They had been hired to kill some prowlers who were disturbing a farmer's cows. Walter waltzed in with a 'new' guitar, he proudly shoved it in my face. It was clearly old with many cracks and stains littering the front. The strings were all different colours, and I noticed a Salvonian crest printed on the back. He began rambling about what happened, about how he can never eat cheese again; really laying on the dramatics. I listened to his story, all while watching Maggie out of the corner of my eye.

She was stood behind him- which was strange. She seemed to be... hiding. I saw her tap her knuckles against her hip before obnoxiously coughing. Walter abandoned his story and backed away from me and disappeared down the hall, the faint sound of a strummed guitar followed him.

"Did you have a good time." I asked her, she tutted before collapsing down next to me on the couch. She stared at the small TV screen, squinting at the paused scene.

"It was... ok. Ate a shit load of cheese, as wally just told ya." She laughed to herself, "He's a nutcase." Her face softened just for a second before she turned her head to face me. "So, about this... date thing." She said through gritted teeth. "We uh, you-"

"Its fine if you want to do it with someone else." I assured her, raising my hands in front of my chest. "I'm fine alone-"

"No!" She shouted before her cheeks turned a dark red. "Tomorrow... we're doing it tomorrow." I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"So, you ignore me for a week and now you're demanding I clear my schedule? Well, I'm a very busy girl Mags... might not be able to squeeze you in... y'know because of all the other dates I have lined up" I said, looking up at the ceiling. I let the joke sit with her for a second before I turned to face her. I expected her to smile or to shove me but instead, she just sat there with her mouth open. She seemed... nervous. Like she didn't realise it was a joke. I laughed and she awkwardly followed, "I'm only pulling you leg."

"Hmm." She looked back at the TV screen.

I placed my hand on her shoulder, "Why you so nervous?" I asked her, "If you're scared about losing... I'll clean the apartment with you." She laughed to herself, and a soft smile settled on her face. It made my heart race a little faster.

"I aint scared." She said, "I'll be... I don't know... upset if it goes wrong?"

"Oh c'mon, I've cleaned before. It's not that-"

"Its not about the... loosing or the cleaning." She said as she laughed. "I want you to have a good time. Y'know? I've been on... kinda of dates before and they've never... gone well." She shrugged.

"Mags-"

"Shit." She bit her bottom lip, "Now you're gonna fake like it." I burst out laughing.

"Mate, if the dates shit then I'll tell you." This didn't calm her nerves, "Look, if it's a total dumpster fire then... we can always try again."

"Really?" She asked after a moment of hesitation.

"Yeah, I mean it's a yearly thing, right? I'll just stick around for another year until we get it right."
